Last 25 years of QPR managers 13:35 - Dec 8 with 1602 views | CamberleyR | Just looking through our list of permanent managers in the last 25 years and how they came to be at QPR. Doesn't make inspiring reading... Ramsey - Promoted from within Redkrapp - Unattached Hughes - Unattached Warnock - C Palace (same division at the time) Hart - Unattached Magilton - Unattached Sousa - Portuguese national team coaching staff Dowie - Unattached De Canio - Unattached Gregory - Unattached Waddock - Promoted from within Holloway - Unattached Francis (2nd) - Unattached R Harford - West Brom (same division) Houston - Arsenal assistant manager Wilkins - C Palace (player) Francis - Bristol Rovers (then in the old second division) Until JFH, Gerry Francis (1st time, 1991) was the last manager we "poached" from a team lower than us. It seems it's 2-1 in terms of success when we have poached a manager from another club (not including Houston as he was only an assistant and Wilkins was only a player at Palace). Barring probably only Holloway, it seems that when we appoint a manager who is not currently employed, they are invariably crap usually proving why they weren't in work when we appointed them.

No, he'd been sacked by Bristol Rovers about a month before he came to us. Sacked Jan 2001 came to QPR end of February 2001.

Still remember good old Don Howe getting the boot like it was yesterday. We used to go down the training ground and fetch the balls from behind the goal during free kick practice when Don was manager and we were in our early teens (used to ask us to do him a favour and collect the balls for him - lovely fella, harshly treated. But what a job Gerry did) [Post edited 8 Dec 2015 21:16]
