CPS Statement
In order to bring a charge, it must be proved that a suspect knew the return was inaccurate and acted dishonestly in signing the declaration. Although there is evidence to suggest the returns may have been inaccurate, there is insufficient evidence to prove to the criminal standard that any candidate or agent was dishonest.
The Act also makes it a technical offence for an election agent to fail to deliver a true return. By omitting any ‘Battle Bus’ costs, the returns may have been inaccurate. However, it is clear agents were told by Conservative Party headquarters that the costs were part of the national campaign and it would not be possible to prove any agent acted knowingly or dishonestly.

Or there genuinely wasn't a case to answer. It seems that because it was an investigation against the Tory party that there is automatic guilt and that there is a cover up. I suspect that the amount of people that have been involved in this case would suggest that if there was a cover up then there would be at least one of two people who would leek information afterwards. Still spending a bit extra on the visit of a battlebus in small cheese when compared to the electoral fraud that was committed in Tower Hamlets.
The reason that there is still one case outstanding is because the case for Thanet South was submitted much later than the other cases. | |

Surely a breach of the rules should mean the candidates lose by default and party with the highest vote who didn't cheat, are elected in their place? Simple and a resounding message sent out.

Still got a long way to learn from Labour. Look at the number of vote rigging cases over the last decade in Birmingham, (a few times), Blackburn, Tower Hamlets, Bradford, there is quite a list all involving postal voting, which in my view should be scrapped. | |

The key words are " it is clear"
All of the MPs involved had an E Mail from the HQ saying that the bus was not to be included in individual cost and was declared centrally which it was it obviously was or someone would be getting prosecuted from central office.
The bus cost was simply put in the wrong column, how much that affected individual voters is incalculable . Most of them probably didnt even see the bus .

Because the entity they keep referring to is HQ, presumably CPS cannot prosecute bricks and mortar.
It's a highly succesful fraud by the Conservative Party that saw them grossly overspend beyond the law, rules and limits set down for all and precisely what got those 30 MP's elected. And was achieved leaving no one person liable.

May has not sought to rule the dodgy 30 out of this Election despite clear evidence Law on spending was broken and hidden fraudulently. This is now on her watch.
Along with the 110 files on Lords and MP's she lost at the HO relating to the Saville enquiry and Dolphin House and really ought to be assisting the police with their enquiries.

So it is worth any Party overspending on National allowances and taking the fines to fraudulently corrupt British Parliamentary Democracy getting MP's elected that may not have been elected if not for the overspend.
