They’ve just signed Karl Henry.

Good luck to him. At least he gave a $***.

Read the article, just reminded me that he fell out with Kenny Jacket at Wolves, I wonder if that had anything with the way him and Ollie got on, or didn't?

Did Jackett fall out with Henry? I thought Jackett decided to have a clearout of the players who'd dropped from the Premiership straight through to League One.

'Kenny Jackett took a bold decision to transfer-list arguably the Wolves' four biggest dressing room characters — and he’s adamant it is no PR stunt.'

Kenny Jackett on why he decided to transfer-list Roger Johnson, Stephen Ward, Karl Henry and Jamie O’Hara

I would hazard a (small) part of everyone's apathy for him was his dislike for giving his $'s .
Work for them like everyone else CCJ!

Edit. Thought it was PlanetHonneywood I was quoting......

Josh Scowen is living proof of why I was gutted about Henry's contract extension. In modern football the days of being able to have a defensive midfielder who is terrified of the ball and can't contribute to fluid passing are over.

This. ^

Henry was so limited in his play that it meant we lost momentum every time he got the ball. We always had to come short (allowing the oppo defence time to realign) or risk losing the ball in midfield. Of course, the forwards were always left isolated by this which meant the back pass to Ned followed by a Hail Mary punt up to whichever poor sod was playing up front on his own for us.

The difference in play since he left has been a breath of fresh air. For the first time in what seems like ages we have a central midfield that has the potential to create.

'What do we want? We don't know! When do we want it? Now!'

This is all true but we didn't have Scowen at the time and often Henry was the only fit option.

He was/is very limited but he tried and never hid.

I agree with the second sentence and blame the manager(s) for picking him when he was clearly not up to the task.

There were other options though which were riskier. Would Doughty or a young player really have been worse than Karl at his worst? Would anyone? It was awful.

I knew he was two Bob the day Barton had him in his back pocket at Molineux. The rest of the time Barton had empty pockets.

Well Doughty was packed off on loan to Swindon but Ollie would probably agree with you as he brought him back......BUT....I was at Norwich (where he probably was worse than Henry) and he blew his last chance.

Don't get to many R's games unfortunately but was there the day Henry got the winner against Bristol City. Best manager he played under at QPR was surely Clint Hill (at Wembley).

Not as bad as he will be remebered, not as good as the amount of games he played reflects.

Good luck to him, he's joining a losing fight there at Bolton

In fairness to Henry, I don't think I've ever seen a player so well versed at, when approaching the half way line, halting, swiveling back towards his own keeper while expertly protecting the ball, and executing a perfect 15 yard pass back to a central defender. All of this would happen in a gracefully balletic slow motion.

Poll: QPR to finish 7th or Brentford to drop out of the top 6?

Good luck to him, was excellent for us in the Premier League, did a good job in the playoff final as well and nowhere near as bad as he was made out to be over the last 2 years either

He was nowhere near 'excellent' in the premier league! I always thought that was a bit of a myth. I think it can be easy for people to mistake a few high profile covering tackles with someone providing consistent good cover for the defence. I would say our defence was not that well protected in that dire season.

Not blaming him personally, but 'excellent'...

It's not about saying he can't tackle or hides or doesn't try, it's about what is required to break down a defence in these times of super fit, highly organised 11 man defensive units. There is no room anymore for a midfielder to be so limited on the ball. It makes it so much easier for the oppo to hold a certain shape and deal with those who can play.

I had plenty to say when his contract was renewed but I never attacked him during the season when it became boringly fashionable and as for the booing...disgusting. But the fact is his limitations on the ball and lack of fluidity, movement and technique were/are a genuine obstacle to a team playing the kind of football we all claim to want to see. When he was a regular in the first half of last season it seemed like week in, week out teams were visiting HQ with central midfielders who could all tackle and harry like him but could also play football. Now we have one in Scowen, and what a difference he has made to Luongo, Freeman and the rest of the team just by being so versatile and having good technique. It gives the team the chance to move to a level that is pretty much impossible with a Henry type of player.

Nothing personal against him (politics aside!), just my view of how the game works these days.

It's really weird because he's a friend of a friend so watching him grow from just trolling people from a small scale to seeing him write for joe and get involved in full scale disputes with Louise Mensch has been....surreal

The day he posted saying he was a civil servant who was deleting Brexit from all official documents was glorious. Soooooo many guys with crusader avatars thinking it was real

Ha ha. Twitter is really odd. I thought I'd hit the big time when I got caught in the middle of a row between Hadley Freeman and Richard Seymour the other day.
