I never knew until a few years back, that our League Cup winning team stayed in Harold Wintons Hotel the night before the Final. (It's called the Eden Plaza these days, corner of Queensgate and Cromwell rd)

Fats Domino was also staying in the Hotel that night.
According to Mark Lazarus, the team spent the evening standing round the Piano, singing along, while Fats played and sang his songs.

I suppose if it happened today, a certain Red Top (shiterag) newspaper would report it as.............
