New Choons for this year, folks?

Last year's Fred was class. I discovered a lot of new music through it.

This mob aren't new but this is the best thing they've done by far. Superb melodies and voices. Hypnotic.

That is excellent, thanks for posting!

This doesn't officially qualify for this thread because it's from 2016, but endulge me. Blistering stuff with a mesmerising guitar solo thrown in.

That was good. The second solo was quality.

I haven't listened to them for years.

I last bought an album back in '92 I think.

I bought this In the week, it's f'kin ACE.

2017's full album is really good too, more power metal. The guitar player shreds marvelously.

I bought both in HMV when we went for a stroll on Tuesday.

The British ambient master craftsmen are back. Not everyone's cup of tea, but there's a lot of really awful ambient music out there and this mob do a pretty good job, in my humble opinion. There's some electric guitar thrown in too.

One of their proud claims is that they don't use computers, it's all done on synths and sequencers. Not sure if that matters to you, mind...

Witness greatness.

Jamie Lenman is currently incapable of writing a bad song and the guest vocalist is stunning. Something for the rockers, the metallers and even Tally with his shouty woman fetish.

Not 2018 but there doesn't seem to be many people able to write this sort of song right now. Think they've got some kind of album out this autumn.

It's not a great video

This earlier video made on tour with one of our very own Pete Docherty is more interesting.

The Californian groove rockers are back and that's a good thing in my book!

I am absolutely loving the Orielles, great jangly indie pop.

Two very different ones that added to the holiday listening

Love Angelique Kidjos voice and her AfroJazz reimagining of the entire "Remain In Light"

And for the guitar nuts, very cool tribute to Chet Atkins by the hugely underrated Robbie McIntosh

Came across Sudan Archives recently. Nice blend of r&b, folk-y afro-jazz.

Yeah that's off-its-tits, in a not uncharming way. i will confess to skipping through some of it -- 9 minutes is a bit of a reach...

This is freak-bop apparently. I like it a lot. Vocals a very Tom Waits. Can't find it on youtube, but check out "Go Down Sunshine" and "Rise Up Sunshine"

Caught Matthew Ryan as one of the supports to The Gaslight Anthem at Hammersmith Odeon on Friday night and loved it.

And while this isn't new, there is a new album due this month

Every summer needs one of these:

Album's well worth a listen, guest vocals from Bon Iver, Jose Gonzalez, Lambchop, Moloko and others...

That is excellent, thanks for posting. I was initially thrown by the fact that David St Hubbins is playing bass, but really got into the track once I had composed myself.

I recently dug out some of the Porcupine Tree albums, I have most of them and apart from the first one, which is a bit of a novelty record, they are tremendous.

Sounds a bit Spitfire but Loleatta Holloway's sample is inspired:

Yeah I turn off after 5 minutes when it changes tone. The album is wicked and she also produced a lot of the Let's Eat Grandma album which is tremendous as well

The New Ghost album is the best yet.
