Slightly surprised that no-one seems to have started this thread already, but I thought her passing should be marked. A wonderful voice and fine actress who overcame a tough upbringing to live a long and fine life.
"Do you mind if I smoke?" Be my guest Fenella, you always smouldered better than anyone else.

I never took her that seriously. She seemed to be born for farce with the sultry looks but slightly cross-eyed; husky voice but slight speech impediment; walking a fine line between appeal and parody. Yet she was intelligent, a gifted dramatic actress and had a cold, accurate eye for the failures of the people around her.

RIP to her and also Liz Fraser who died last week.
Her, too? Another one who was better than her career turned out. I saw her in an episode of Rumpole, playing the straight role of an understanding wife, and she just seemed so comfortable. Not that she couldn't do the sexy blond perfectly well, but clearly she could do better.
can't be many left from the original Carry On's?.... Babs Windsor, Jim Dale... any others?
I once "acted" alongside Fenella in an independent film. I say "acted" as one critic was particularly harsh on my ability (with good reason)/ words to the effect of "wooden would be an insult to a rather large piece of wood" - I also nearly got arrested for immitating a police officer as well. Anyway SHE was a total diva (in a good way), good laugh and you certainly felt her presence.. RIP

That's sad. Apparently in recent times she could regularly be found in Sainsbury's in Chiswick. I think I once helped her with something in the bread aisle but I can't be 100% sure.
