Joe Lumley on the offish on 18:15 - Nov 2 with 2225 views | BklynRanger | I'll watch that later. Hopefully he provides some detail on what he's shouting all the time. He appeared to be yelling "itchy leg" a lot when we played Sheff Wed. He's like a mad crow but whatever works.

Joe Lumley on the offish on 09:04 - Nov 3 with 2036 views | Guppy22 | Met Joe on the underground after a game a few years ago and he happily spoke to my boy and I for 20 minutes, a few games later he gave my boy some gloves. He is a genuinely nice young man, very articulate and polite. Also answered all the questions my boy (a goalkeeper as well) had to ask him. So pleased he’s doing well for us
Joe Lumley on the offish on 10:08 - Nov 3 with 1978 views | Lblock | I’m on the record - this kid will be a multi million pound keeper I feel He’ll make mistakes; what keepers don’t? But he’s already showed he’s got the mentality to come back from those. My keepers HAVE to run the game. They see all before them and vocal keepers can break up attacks before they get anywhere near their penalty box by good communication with 10 outfield players. Lumley does this brilliantly and will simply get better at it. I love his celebrations and he seems immersed in where he is at currently and living it. I’d advise him to keep his head level and not get too far ahead of himself, but what would be the point? He seems to have that about him anyway!!!! I can’t make out the song a few people are trying to get going for him but booze got the better of me last few games. He’s one of our own and it’s great to see him take his chance so well

Good analysis, LB. I think he's been largely untested so far due to McClaren's coaching of the back four + Cameron, and I've yet to see him make a save that he shouldn't. But, as you say, his organisation and communication are both excellent and his positioning seems sound, too. I would say right now that he is very promising, and let's see where the next few months bring him.

I think part of what makes some of those saves appear more manageable is down to how switched on he is positionally - so when a shot does get through our wall of doom he has a very good idea of where he needs to be - that plus his size and mobility gives him a good head start.

Agreed, Bklyn. Definitely. Even so, while I don't want us to have one of those games where shots rain in from every angle, I'd like to see how he copes with that as well. It would give a fuller picture of his skills.

He made a save 2nd half against Derby where he had to change position mid save as the ball was moving around so much. The defence seem very comfortable with him behind them barking out orders

2 reasons I think he keeps so many clean sheets is his organisation and positioning. He's constantly communicating so people are in the right place meaning there's no easy chances, and when a shot does come in his positioning means it's a comfy save. The swerving one from Wilson when we played Derby at home was a standout save, but he's likely to be tested a lot more in games to come. So pleased for him, great to see a specialist position like a keeper come through the ranks and make a position his - with Furs and Eze that's a legitimate quarter of our first 11 that came via the academy/u23 team.
