Too good to check - how about i just read that US troops are seven times more likely to suffer from post-traumatic stress than British troops. The suggested theory being simply cultural, Brits are less bothered due to our stiff upper lips, whereas emotionally outgoing Americans are soft as fcuk. I'm not surprised at all to read it, it's about what i'd have expected. I did suggest the other day that Thais are much less likely to suffer ptsd than westerners and was roundly pooh-poohed as usual. But of course it's true whether palatable or not. Extrapolated, that makes the average Thai about 49 times more resilient than an average yank. Which, again, is what about what i'd expect. Also just read that the most patriotic race on the planet is supposedly the Thais. I'm not sure how to check the veracity of that either, but it could well be true. | |
