He's getting happier every week, as well he should. Or, to put it another way, he's looking less guarded. He even laughed!

That's a model post-match interview. He praised every single player by name. He also answered questions cleverly...

Example 1 - "Have any of the players coming in given you anything to think about?".
"They give me something to think about every day... they've been ready, chomping at the bit.. eager to get into the team, but the team's been doing well, difficult to change..."

Loaded question, clever answer.

Example 2 - continuation of above - "they've always come off the bench and impacted, but today's a great opportunity with so many injures that we had..." This is important. There's no doubt that they might have got in anyway, but from what we've seen from McClaren he believes that jersies are earned rather than handed out out of sympathy. He already said that the young lads trained well but these were not sympathy starts, the team was doing well but got a few injuries, now take your chance, and take it now. The result? Rangers' young cup lads played like lads who believed they had a chance of breaking through, not like we've seen before where they played like eleven random stiffs and kids playing out a game that the management or First XI couldn't give a crao about.

All told, a very assured interview from a manager who, quite rightly, should be very assured.

I'm pleased for him.

"The opposite of love, after all, is not hate, but indifference."
