We're talking about a very small set of people (124,000 members of the Conservative Party) so it's hard to know how much to read into this.
I guess you can interpret it as meaning that English nationalism trumps everything except the interests of the English shire class.
Or to put it another way English nationalism is a very good thing if it preserves the interests of the English shire class, but a very bad thing if it threatens the interests of the English shire class (assuming that they believe Corbyn is a threat to their interests, something for which there has been very little evidence). |  |
