Brentfords New Stadium 11:29 - Feb 3 with 3166 viewsenfieldargh

Was chatting to a fellow fan yesterday and he was telling me that Brentford have a few issues with their new build.

The Stadium original capacity has had to be reduced to 17k as the original 20K+ plan the site was not big enough to fit.

He was also saying that the current site allows for a pitch that is smaller than regulations and that the capacity may be reduced to c.12k.

The original architect apparently made a total balls up even after all approved?

Anyone know any more on this?

Wow, if that is true then they will be seeing the architect in court. That would be a truly monumental c0ck-up!

"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."

Measure twice, cut once.

Saw some video footage of it from a drone the other day and TBH it looks really good - tight and steep. But it was hard to see where they were going to fit the fourth stand and I had heard the rumour that the capacity was going to have to be reduced again a couple of weeks ago. Somebody suggested that had something to do with why Devlin had left as well.

Isn’t there an issue with access routes too?

When the mad Darlington owner built a huge ground they barely ever filled 20% of, the max attendance permitted was way less than the number of seats due to the lack of roads to and from the place.

They reduced the original capacity to increase corporate boxes.

12k sounds about right for there support base......if true must be a court case looming that’s a monumental clock up.

They have plenty of time on their hands.

I'm wasted on here.

I don't share the anti Brentford feeling on here. They are a well run club with a new ground a stones throw from the original ground.
I just hope we can get moving with the LC development.

Me neither but it would be funny if this was true.

They hate us in a similar vein to the way we view Chelsea - hence with them in our league and stuff I can see it.

I note it's only going to end up 5K above what Griffin Park currently is.

Financially I don't think this helps them overly going forward clearly no room for movement forward from this especially with the access issues
The architechts could be in huge trouble - wonder why Devlin left with this in mind -

QPR please take note not to use these people if we ever get a new ground.

Not sure exactly what this is but it is/was supposedly something to do with us (from Skyscraper City)

Presumably they own Griffin Park and will receive a large sum from whoever is developing the site. Igather Griffin Park is to be housing with a small park.

That brought in down from around 20k to 17k. This sounds like a co(k-up that could lower it further to almost Griffin Parl levels. Sure, it’ll probably be a better place overall but would curtail any chance of getting higher than they are now.

Possibly something from the Briatore era? Has his QPR crest, not our new one.
