From today's "Sports Agenda"

Who benefits from Shaun Harvey's departure?

Many Championship clubs, still angry at the £595 million five-year TV deal agreed last November, were pleased to discover that the EFL and chief executive Shaun Harvey will go their separate ways at the end of the season. But some lower league sides have told Sports Agenda they saw Harvey as a welcome buffer to stop Championship clubs from hiving off a bigger slice of broadcasting cash.

Thursday’s meeting for all EFL clubs at Derby County’s Pride Park is certain to be lively, although hopefully it won’t be plagued by the confusion that has affected past EFL summits.

Grimsby Town majority shareholder John Fenty told a fans’ forum event last week how meetings led by Harvey would become a mess because nobody knew in advance what the EFL chief wanted to discuss.

‘It drove us bonkers,’ said Fenty of a meeting in 2016. ‘Everybody was absolutely fizzing because they were being asked questions about something they knew nothing about.’
