TV Footy Thread 21:24 - Mar 17 with 11789 views | BrianMcCarthy | I've been meaning to start this for a while now but keep forgetting. Simply, a thread about the non-QPR game you're watching right now. There will be spoilers! Me, I'm watching Betis 0-3 Barca. Messi with a gorgeous free kick goal, then a lovely one-two with Suarez then a Suarez and cool, low finish. I honestly don't know what I'll do when Messi retires...

TV Footy Thread on 08:55 - Mar 20 by Toast_R | It's as more about the players than Harry really. Paul Merson still very much battling his gambling addiction, quite bad really. Just shows the health issues 80/90s footballers faced when they carried on living they way there were minus the training and every day exercise. The weight creeps on and before you know it, you're a stroke or heart attack candidate. |
He was getting very overweight during the last phase of his career, including his spell with us. As for Mersin and his gambling addictions,it helps a bit when you do adverts for betting companies doesn’t it?Its like an alcoholic advertising beer or spirits.

TV Footy Thread on 10:06 - Mar 20 by daveB | The bit with Merson was shocking, even more so when you see he's one the faces of Skybet, i know he probably needs the money but he shouldn't be doing that can't be helping him. Cracking programme though, that pass from Le Tissier for the 2nd goal was a thing of beauty |
The only disappointing thing was that John Barnes was injured and couldn't play. I'd loved to have seen him on the ball once more. It's a crying shame he never got to play on the European club stage due to Liverpool's ban at the time when he was arguably one of the best players in Europe.

Oh god, really? It's actually been seen in a very positive light for highlighting men talking to one another about their mental health. Can only be a good thing. So forget Harry Redknapp and his botched management tenures, there's bigger things at hand. [Post edited 20 Mar 2019 13:09]

Its not really being billed/promoted as 'Watch this and learn about men's mental health' though is it?

TV Footy Thread on 22:03 - Mar 24 with 1659 views | DannyPaddox | Norn Iron fans (the Backstop Boys) serious question. How come there's a bloke (Jordan Jones) from Redditch United FC (Evostick Southern League Central Division) playing upfront while Paul Smyth sits on the bench. Is it a positional thing? I know you guys have to scour the lower leagues for players but the 8th tier of the pyramid! Is he any good? Genuinely curious.
TV Footy Thread on 22:17 - Mar 24 with 1650 views | komradkirk | I thought Jones looked decent in the last two internationals and he has signed a pre contract with Rangers.Fast and looks to get a shot away. Smyth not getting game time with us has put him down the pecking order at international level but playing recently at Stanley has got him back in the squad.
TV Footy Thread on 22:31 - Mar 24 with 1643 views | DannyPaddox | Thanks for the reply Komrad I was also wondering why no one else has shown any interest in Jones so that answers that. Also appreciate you answered the query without an reference to Conor Whoooooshington. Well done on another win. Now above Holland and Germany in the table.

The Ulstermen are a joy to watch, passion , drive and commitment non stop for 90 minutes Puts the Scotland excuses of not having any decent players into perspective when you consider how little a talent pool Nireland have
| And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot
That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles

Might have missed a joke here but that's a different Jordan Jones. The NI one plays for Killie.

A mystery. Thanks for correcting. I was checking the club's of the Norn Iron starting XI during the game and for Jones I read Redditch which I seemed to have read before. Thats just too random to misread. Yet I look now and it says Kilmarnock. The spiced rum and pineapple mixers I was drinking last night couldn't have been that strong. [Post edited 25 Mar 2019 13:27]

I suppose it makes a change for the fans of one club to dislike another because they’re not ruthlessly successful enough.

TV Footy Thread on 07:03 - Apr 10 with 1143 views | distortR | the best thing about watching football on telly is the feeling of schadenfreude. I HATE all other teams. I will not countenance having "another team". Not in English lower divisions, not in Scotland, not nowhere. I enjoy it when, after a soul destroying defeat, the camera pans around the losing fans before focusing in on the crying man-child. So imagine my horror when, after the watford-wolves semi-final, which I actually was listening to on the radio and thus shouldn't be relevant to this thread, but anyway, so imagine my horror and self loathing when I said to my wife "I feel sorry for the wolves fans, losing a semi-final in that way, when they thought they were going to a cup final". Or words to that effect. WTF is wrong with me? Do I 'have a thing' for wolves? NO EFFING WAY! the only time I think about wolves, is when i wonder how my neighbour's chihuahua is a relative, and no wonder they disappeared from Britain and don't want to be reintroduced, it must be sooooooooooooo embarrassing. Am I "putting myself in their shoes"? The thought of being in some disney film where i swop bodies with a wolves fan makes me feel nauseous. To wake up with THAT accent, man-boobs, the craving for white bread and cheap marge, fags and lager...... And I can say that, because I live on a council estate. Any of you middle class types who try it will be instantly bombarded with class war diatribe e-mails. So the only reasonable answer is that I am gaining empathy for my fellow man. I am devastated. It's taking all the fun out of life. No schadenfreude, no point. It's the end.
