Something going on today. Their presence at this game was considered by many to be over the top. However, I think there may have been more to this than meets the eye. Konk may give us news of what it was like at Fulham. However, I am guessing it was as bad as our game. I noted two full police vans heading towards Charlton mid-morning.
A number of fans were trapped by the police and security trying to get into the Ellerslie stand and missed the first goal. One was stoped from entering Y and came into V to watch the first half.
Also, at Lewisham station police were everywhere. There was also a metal detector for everyone to go through. So, something must have been amiss or expected to happen.
Two full Police vans heading towards Charlton....also at Lewisham station Police everywhere ??
What has this got to with events in west London, about 10 miles away ??
I think the police might be concerned about 2 midlands clubs playing in London on the same day,but surely they would’ve picked a better place to have a scrap than se London?

Smeg,
Understand your point, and likely separate, but there was a big police presence pre and post game, and a lot of stuff going down. I doubt any of the police there were interested in Charlton!
Am I missing something? 2800 Luton, many Migs down to Shepherds Bush giving it large and a very large mob of Rangers ready to welcome them. That is why the OB were all over the place.
As I drove down Blomfontein Road at around 2.15pm I got stuck in the Luton police-wrapped "army" - every other car turned round back but I was f--ked if I was going to miss my pint in the Crown so I had to sit there while several hundred of life's unfortunates lolloped past. Didn't see "Tommy" but his spirit was alive and well.
Lovely to beat them once again after all these years.
Well the conningham was full of young lads and a few old school fellas, some with a few bruises, congratulating each other for doing Luton.
There's the reason for the police presence
That's right Hayesender at 10 to 5 Coningham surprisingly and annoyingly was closed and I couldn't retrieve a bag I left there. Off to get in now. Was The White Horse closed after as well? BTW Kingo's 'am I missing something?' post up this thread is spot on.

Exactly. Not hard to work out. Was in the Askew and surrounded by police with batons drawn, dogs, horses....

The match didn't finish till 5 to 5, so you must have left the ground after 75 minutes then!

Couln't undo my bleeding old D-Lock in want of WD40 bike stuck in SAR hedge near Dave Thomas's pitch . I left a can in that hedge too. Suffering for my Hoops.
Well I was very very very drunk so Dave the doorman turned me away and said it was closed when it weren't maybe. It might have been 5:30 pm for all I know,Terry and The Nitpickers Helpful Algerian barber opposite Con patiently helped pie-eyed me back on cycle from where I toddled and wobbled home buying cake and chocolate at the co-op. Got choc boxs today Sunday for 3 people who helped me home...* Most people are good kind and helpful even to banjaxed inebriates worse for drink. 10 pints and a chaser in 2 and a half hours more at half-time [hic]
Anyone on here doing Al Anon? Maybe it's time for me to do the 12 steps...hmm Awful thirsty at football ~ it's hard breaking the link.
*...where a kind neighbour -she got chocs- helped me turn the key lock to get indoors
BTW 2 shopkeepers told me it was Askew Arms where police and hoolis were at.
