I found it almost unwatchable not so long ago but it's improved so much. I like most of the presenters now. Emily Maitlis, Kirsty Wark, Emma Barnett. Mark Urban was really great tonight I thought.

really? like most of the BBC's political output these days I reckon it's absolute sh*te.

Brillo must be spending many a sleepless night wondering how he ever was over looked by a podcast, and that inept shower of luke warm blue nun.

Well it's improved but that is from a low base.

It's especially guilty of the BBC trope of having somebody on talking demonstrable rubbish and lies in the supposed interest of balance. If one person says oxygen is quite necessary and another says it's not and we should get rid of it, you don't bring them both on and give them equal weight, one of them is a liar and should be treated as such.

It's also very bad for presenting highly biased individuals as credible sources, analysts or journalists. If you really must have Owen Jones on (and, frankly, you really mustn't) it should be made very clear who he is and what he's peddling, not just "here's a journalist from a national newspaper" because that's not what he is. I turned it on the other night and that fcking pointy nosed A-level student Tom Harwood was being allowed to just stand in the middle of the studio in front of a white board detailing just what a tactical genius Dominic Cummings was and how "remoaners" had been left with nowhere to go and had definitely lost, all under the guise of him being a "journalist" for Guido Fawks. That's not right, he's not a journalist and Guido Fawks is not a news website, these are campaigners and activists not experts.

A big part of the problem in this country and the US is people who are qualified, who do know what they're talking about, are having their views on things they specialise in given equal weight to some 20-year-old wnker who set a blog up. How or why does anybody give a single sht what Darren Grimes thinks about anything, for example? Why is he on the news exactly?

It'd be like putting me on stage with Alex Ferguson to talk about how you manage a football team.

I totally agree with this.

But if you balanced the debate about Brexit based on facts then you’d literally never hear from Brexiteers. Sounds quite good actually.

Also I thought Mark Urban was out of his depth and a shambles.

Since someone mentioned Guido Fawkes I think we need to have a conversation about its corrsoive influence on the regular media.

Several ex Gudio staffers - Wickham at Buzzfeed, Waterson at the Guardian, Cole at the MoS - now work for more "regular" news services as well as Rob Burley from BBC News's desire to put Tom Harwood who still works there on the telly non stop.

So now what happens is Guido can conduct their barely legal bin scraping or launder gossip for people, and then the mainstream press amplifies it. Further Laura K's doxxing of the guy in the hospital yesterday was straight from the Guido playbook.

This is a website that is so toxic they've had to ban the use of the word "jew" in the comments section so rampant was anti-Semitic posting, now at the heart of modern news cycle. It absolutely stinks.

The only upside to it is thinking about Harry Cole having to write gushing articles about Boris, through the tears as he thinks about Boris rattling his fiancee

Eh? Jim Waterson worked for Buzzfeed before the Guardian, and for City AM before that. He's never worked for Guido. MoS is politically identical to Guido, so there's no transfer of corrosive influence there. Wickham's beat at Buzzfeed is clearly the Tories, and you couldn't look at his coverage and say it's all Ra Ra The Government! So that criticism boils down to: Tom Harwood is on Politics Live too much.

Guido's horrible, but don't overstate its influence.

Jim Waterson started out as an intern at Guido so that's not true

And you've misinterpreted what I'm saying - it's not that Guido's themes are transferred, but quite literally their stories are amplified through the mainstream press

Where has the "homophobic thugs" come from ?. I would suggest it has nothing to do with him being Gay, and more to do with him being a jumped up little pr1ck. Who condones acts of assualt on those he considers to be on the wrong side of the argument or whos opinion differs from his own.

He was n intern? For how long? Two weeks? A month? Come on … I interned four months for a Democratic Congressman in Washington. I know others who did, too. But we're not proof of the Democrats' infiltration of UK media …

No.

Exactly the problem is that people think they can decide who are and aren't experts.

The whole point of expertise is that it's earned through education, research and professional experience. Experts are scientists in their field.

And so in the case of the Brexit there are very very few experts who think it's a good idea.

Hence why Gove started dismissing them.

Long enough that Guido wrote a piece congratulating him? Long enough that even after he stopped working there a Labour MP's previous posts on a music board that Waterson used in the past was a big Guido news story?

Anyway this appears to be pointless as

a) you seem very keen to defend Waterson, and keep shifting the goalposts (your initial statement that he had nothing to do with them having been proven to be incorrect)
b) You keep saying I'm making a point that I am not. My point is that the prevalence of ex Guido personnel in the media is clearly being used to amplify their own stories and laundering their reputation to the point the point of BBC put one of their guys on telly non stop
c) i don't know why someone would spend so much effort defending Guido Fawkes, a racist cesspool

Actually Owen Jones was encouraging people on twitter to punch people he disagreed with in the past, so perhaps he got what was coming to him.

So people like Mervyn King the former Bank of England governor who thinks we should leave the EU without a deal:
