Have been doing the same, watching football from the 70,s.On you tube

Just really enjoyable with great kits and some great football.

I love the 70s, for me the peak of football.
The theme tune for Big Match, sends shivers down my spine. I was born in 78 so it's before my time. It's just so enjoyable to watch players play football rather than work at football. As much as I detest the modern game, I do fu(king miss it even more than I thought I would

Poll: Why are you a QPR supporter?

My first full season as an R
That was a great season and thanks for posting but for a couple of things

Poland and bite your legs Hunter, kicking the air

Leeds winning the league, a very naughty me did kick Harvey up the bum at the end of the game and he chased me the length of the pitch but was a slow fecker LOL 33K gate

I spoke to Joe Mercer when he was caretaker about why he would not pick Stanley Basically they never got on at Man C.

Many great players great games and great goals.

Can you imagine players today playing on those pitches?

Feck the Prem.

PS
I know us old gits go on about 75/76 but really, it was a football travesty we did not win the league that season, I guess you had to have been there.

With JG it could have been 40K

The gate numbers back then were a bit dodgy with cash on the gate.

Where was he getting that £200 cash for Stanley every Monday?

I am lead to believe that the official ground capacity listed at that time was 37,000. Now I either read it in a programme or - brain turning as I type, someone told me on a MB at one time. No idea, anyone substantiate?

I think we were getting mid 20K in that period for sure 75//76

That Leeds game was really packed but even so I was surprised at it being over 30K

There used to be a site you could look up Head to Head that gave attendance (football mad?) but can't find it now.

I too think a lot of people think the old farts are going on about the 70,s and that 75/76 team again. It really was magical. Seems a lot more crosses and shots compared to today. Very end to end rather then attack vs defense.

I coach soccer for a living and my philosophy on the game is mainly based on Jago/Sexton and Venables teams. Football played the right way. When my teams knock the ball around it really is beautiful.

Thing is over here US coaches are somewhat obsessed with moves or just lumping it towards the goal and being AGGRESSIVE. Such dumb rhetoric. I do feel on my own sometimes out there on the wastelands of artificial turf surfaces.

22.4k for the home league fixture just a month beforehand. Additional crowd for the cup was mainly Rangers, I’d say Leicester had about fifteen hundred there that day.

I again watched the Clough drama/film, after recording it last night.

In lots of ways I did like him, but he was also a bit of a kunt, rightfully sacked at Derby and Leeds.

A line from Clough to the Leeds players in the drama before a game with us, players ask him what should they do against us.

"just stop Stan Bowles"

We won.

Apologies if I get the stands names mixed up but- the Gallowgate wasn’t their home end back then. This game was the longest and most nerve wracking football ‘adventure’ so far for myself and a few of my mates, no internet to suss out the area so I’d spent some time poring over an AA street map beforehand so we wouldn’t have to ask directions. We’d noted the stadium was in the city centre(a good thing in our minds) and had been told by a couple of older Arsenal fans who lived near me that it wasn’t as bad up there for aggro as in London and we should be ok as long as we weren’t mouthy, Back to the stadium...their home end was around the park side, not sure when the roof come off but it wasn’t long after, don’t know the reason why. We stood in a bit of a corner and had a good view of the whole end, when Rangers scored, there were a few hands go up, memory had me thinking there were more behind that goal than the handful you see in the video. One moment of panic for me was when I got separated from my mates coming out of the ground, bricking it I was.

It certainly was mate.Even more surprising to see rangers fans on the Gallowgate celebrating all 3 goals without apparent trouble. That wouldn’t have happened a couple of years later.
I remember getting threatened at West Ham in 1976 for having the cheek to cheer for qpr while standing in the middle of the chicken run.

Had a bastard 10 day fever at the start of lockdown which may or may not have been the pangolin flu. What else was there to do but trawl thru YouTube and watch my QPR life flash before me by searching for as much of the Rs in 1973/74 as I could find. My first season too, although I didn’t start going to games till after Xmas depending on the generosity and motivation of older relatives. Watching the games after all these years in a feverish state I felt like I was transported back. I found about 14 games for a 73/74 rewind thread. I’ll do it when I get a moment. It can’t just have been the excitement of everything being new we really were magic in that season on so many levels.

As well as the Gerry goal the Macdonald penalty miss (and btw: never a pen!) was delightful.

They had a decent team up there that year, McDermott, Hibbitt, Kennedy, Moncur, MacDonald.
