The Play Off's On 17:14 - May 15 with 3052 viewsbwildered

Surprised to say the least. A unanimous vote by clubs to end the season, however a vote with automatic promotion with no play off games would surely have got through by the majority. But playing three playoff matches, possibly at neutral grounds and behind closed doors is just crazy for the four clubs only, and now unrepresents the clubs which already forlough players and now does not replicate league positions for the end of season.
What happens if the L1 clubs vote against relegation, likely has at present u able to agree to any agreement.
To have play off matches, is still taking risks for all players and staff, which is not part of the government guidelines.

The article on the BBC suggests its not that League 1 are voting against relegation, but that there are six clubs, not surprisingly the five immediately outside the automatic promotion zone, plus no-hopers Ipshit (flippin' muppets) who are digging their heels in to play out the remainder of the season - there's one point between those five, and they're only two points outside 2nd place. However, I would imagine eventually they'll have to concede, as surely there can't be any feasible way of actually completing the season.

As for Stevenage, rather see rid if I'm honest, but at least following the demise of Bury, if they are allowed to avoid relegation at least Barrow could still be promoted to bring League 2 back up to 24 members.

Seeing that Stevenage have dodged that relegation bullet ,( which must be a bigger issue dropping out the league than dropping into L2 ), anything is possible regarding further talks.
Chairman in L1 could indicate if there is no relegation in L2 , what makes L1 therefore different ?
Behind closed doors meets and compromise might be order of the day, with a minority vote to save the integrity of clubs and chairman .

Yes even a friend of mine, a rabid ITFC supporter does not see the point. As he said they were pretty awful and the existing squad would get murdered in the Championship.
As regards Stevenage guess they can stay as Div 1 & 2 are a team short anyway and be a complete injustice if Barrow don't come up. My son saw them play a couple of times and said they were way ahead of any other team in the National league with affairs masterminded by Rooney's brother.

On TalkSport last week they said 60% of League 1 teams wanted the season to finish now. They only need 51% (12 teams) for that to happen. Does't matter if they do vote for no relegation because the EFL has said however their three Divisions vote there will be promotion, four team play-offs and relegation in all Divisions. So get ready for two games against Exeter.

EFL: Leagues One and Two play-offs to be before Championship play-offs.

More confirmation that play-offs are going to happen.

It is still anticipated all three finals will be played at Wembley.

Great to see Col U showing innovation with the cardboard supporters.

Other countries and sports have employed a similar idea and it looks colourful.

The stadium noise for goals and to create atmosphere is to be employed by some teams as well.

I will avoid the obvious puns about the supporters folding like a pack of cards or the club taking up origami.

All options for promotion and relegation have now been proposed by ALL the EFL clubs and are currently being considered. Voting day has already been put back a day to Tues 8th June. Wonder if this is a good sign or not. Would think all club chairman mobiles are busy cajoling and convincing others for the best outcome for their clubs .
We know are own Chairmans position, and those from L2 that have already bravely agreed in principle, just need others to come onboard, will not be easy even at this late stage.

Ground could be opened to home fans only

Open North Stand and there are 10000 seats. If 2500 ST holders (or less) fans could go and space every 4 seats.

No catering faciities and a formal system for entry to and from toilets etc

I see games in Hungary have been doing this

Further dithering and delay amongst the 71 EFL Clubs.

Lets get on and deliver the message that Colchester and the other three L2 Clubs can go ahead and play their Play Off games.

No leadership and mixed messages is inexcusable.

EFL have said: The statement issued on Wednesday evening read: 'The EFL Board met today and considered a number of proposals submitted by EFL Clubs in respect of proposed amendments to EFL Regulations in order to determine what will happen in the event the 2019/20 season is curtailed in any EFL Division.

'This now brings an end to a comprehensive consultation phase and Clubs have today received formal notice of the meeting which will now take place on Tuesday 9 June 2020.

'At that meeting Clubs will consider a number of different proposals from both Clubs and the Board of the EFL.' Message ends!!!!

It's Mickey Mouse at best. Tell the clubs that Play Offs will be played for each League and Relegations as appropriate.

Now that our Players and other clubs are back in training they need decisions. It is still not too late to conclude the Play Off games before 30 June so that the Colchester four can see out their contracts and hopefully earn promotion to League One.

Up the U's and Cardboard cut outs.

NO LEADERSHIP sums it up perfectly durham. The EFL are an absolute disgrace, this should have been sorted weeks ago. What do they mean about considering a number of proposals. There are only two options for finishing the season. You continue playing, or you finish the season now. There are also two options regarding promotion and relegation. Either void the season, or have promotion, relegation and play-offs in every division.

I thought all this had been voted on already, at about the time League 2 decided to end their season. I thought League 1 were going to follow the same. There are six big mouths who want to continue for their clubs own purpose, but they only need 12 clubs to vote to end the season. Something I thought would obviously happen. The Championship have proposed to continue their season on 20th June, but I have never seen a vote in favour of this.

Whatever happens the EFL have to make sure their is consistency throughout their three divisions regarding promotion and relegation. There can't be a situation where League 2 vote for promotion and play-offs, and League 1 vote for no relegation.

Best I don't write what I really think about Palios and his Tranmere madness because of the libel laws In this country.

Suffice to say he must keep his snout out of league two affairs.

League Two clubs have already voted in favour of the arrangements that we are waiting for approval on 9 June.

We do not need further interference from an England management has-been.

I am incandescent at this interference.

Let's get on with it no more delays

Apparent lack of leadership may well be related to the difficulty in reaching an agreement on how the current season can be finished without one or more interested parties resorting to legal action.

When League 2 agreed to end their season, EFL Chairman Rick Parry said at the time, that for this to happen there would have to be a rule change at a meeting on the 16th May. I never heard if this meeting actually took place, and if it did whether any rules were changed. Surely this is where leadership should be happening. The EFL board have the authority to change rules so that whatever the different Leagues vote for these rules will have to be abided by. If they are going to be concerned by any legal action, then the 2019/20 season will never finish in that case.

Mick the EFL didn't make any rule changes and this is apparently why their meeting of the 71 is being delayed and delayed.

Frankly I wouldn't pay them in washers.

It is always the so called "insignificant" teams that suffer. Premier League goes ahead looks like the Championship will too. League one are indecisive (as always), it is only League Two that were bold and all clubs voted in favour way back in the middle of May.

The players are back in full training albeit observing small groups at Florence Park.

The EFL must step up and be decisive the majority are keen to resolve this issue. We do not need Palios and his interference and obfuscation at the 11th hour.

Goal line technology to be employed at the Jobserve Stadium and St James' Park plus Wembley of course.

No mention of VAR though!

I see from today's Daily Express that Exeter's chairman is complaining about the cost of playing play-off fixtures and wants EFL to contribute.
Well Mr Tagg, if you are concerned about the cost of playing us then there is an obvious answer. Butt out Sir.

Wembley here we come.

Luckily Mr Cowling has a totally different attitude. Suggest you all read his latest statement on U's website. Absolutely uplifting. Well done Mr Cowling.

Another unenviable piece of history for the U’s v Exeter - not only were we the first team to get knocked out of the FA Cup without conceding a goal against the Grecians, but now we play each other in the first ever play-off match behind closed doors.
