Luton Vans - Match Thread 10:22 - Jan 11 with 55167 viewsCFW

Never had the confidence to start a match thread, going early and hoping first time lucky!!

The obvious questions - will Charlie start? will he be used as an impact sub and can we keep a clean sheet? I really, really hope and pray that bringing him back works out for both sides. There are two Charlie Austins - the one we took on, burning desire to do well, worked very hard for the team, played on even though he was in a lot of pain and gave everything to every game. The other, unfortunately, (if you read and believe the reports) is someone who lost his desire, had his head turned, went off the rails, put on a load of timber and is not, and will never be the same man or player he was in the past. Could go either way, but I hope for both the club and his sake it goes well for him and I wish him all the very best of luck.

I am going for a 1-2 win - and after being awarded a penalty Charlie picks up the ball and gives it to Dykes who slams it into the back of the net to win us the match. They embrace and it is the start of a beautiful partnership.

Don’t want to micromanage but let’s use this 2-0 lead to give dykes a few seconds of rest....still have another sub

Dykes on the break and wins a corner on the right.

A penalty for Dykes would be the perfect cherry on top - he deserves a goal

Have to say when deserved Dykes as been immense tonight and if we can coach a few goals into him he will be a good player

YESSSS!!!

I love all of your wonderful people (some obvious exceptions) and I love this team. Everything’s going to be ok!

Why do I always want to sing MaCauley Bonne’s name to the tune of Enola Gay? I say always... that’s twice in half a season now... but the questions stands?

It’s all been a bit incoherent second half but we’ve defended well and kept on plugging away. Looks like 3 points.

very professional performance. Really glad for Bonne, I did say on Saturday that he never hid but just seemed to pick the wrong option every time. But his being on the ball that often was encouraging. Composed assist from Adomah too

Overall have to say it was a great performance. Charlie lifted them and when he went off we had shaky moments but there was no lack of dogged defending, chasing and working hard for what was a deserved 2nd goal.
Albert did really well and credit to Bonne taking that first time on that bog of a pitch, would easily have taken a bobble to make a fool of him.
We'll done Todd Kane, as Brian said he put in a solid 7/10 but to convince some of the naysayers he would have to put in a string of 8s and 9s but he will never be capable of that, if can put in a run of games all 6s and 7s then let's accept that and lok to develop the squad.
Delighted!
