Just had my 50th. The plan was gonna be a few days in Berlin and Gdansk, but I've just spent the week in W12 drinking too much.

Pretty normal week then

60th end of March, hope to be in Italy skiing which would be ironic as I caught the dreaded there last February, 1 of the earliest cases!
Was also hoping to go to Canada in the summer but have decided to put that off until next year, it’ll still be there and don’t want to go all that way for a restricted holiday.

Can not recommend the North Coast of NI enough. So easy to get to, travel around and just take it slowly. Dress for the weather!

Forgot to add - (hopefully) going for 3 nights early April; one night in a hotel, two round my mother-in- laws. She refuses to put the heating on.

Trying to get through the year without throwing in the towel at work.
been there 46 years and only 3years to go until the pension.
at this stage it is starting to piss me off.
even threw a sickie on Friday which i have never done before.

would love a months holiday in Greece with classical sightseeing, island hopping and a visit to the little village on Corfu where we stayed in 1983 and 1984.

The way I'm seeing it lets suppose flights fully open up again late April-May time the demand for flights are gonna go through the roof so are the costs I'd Imagine.

People are gonna want to get the hell away.

Talking about this with the Mrs earlier this evening.

My Father had a profound influence on me, he was a lunatic.

Depends on what you like doing.
I love the Lake District but with kids with you, the coast south of Snowdonia is great, lovely beaches, castles, mountains, nice little towns and villages what’s not to like?
Also, Harrogate is lovely and a short drive to the Dales and Leeds is a great city.

some great places you've named there.
snowdonia was always one that was unfinished for me, got to about 200 yards from the top but was advised to turn back and head down to llanberis due to weather.
yorkshire dales was fantastic, especially a little town called hawes.

never been to the lake distict, so that is on my list.

How about jet skiing over to the Isle of Man, then free B&B for a fortnight?

jet skiing sounds better than when i went by sea link back in 1974, was sea sick for the whole 3 hours from fleetwood......free b/b sounds alright though.

I know the feeling mate.I’d planned to semi retire last September but decided to give it one more year full time.I wish I hadn’t bothered now as i’m Counting the days down, and it’s a real struggle to go to work every day.Especially with the dangers of catching this virus.
But what is the point of being off at the moment when you can’t go anywhere or do anything?

I’m supposed to be having 4 days in Spain in April celebrating my nephew’s 40th,but that doesn’t look like it will happen. Also I was meant to be doing a charity trek through the Grand Canyon in May,but they sent an email on Friday about postponing it,so I deferred it until May 2022.

God I hope this virus would just feck off.

You’ve been working at the same place for 46 years?!?! Isn’t that chimney clean yet?

No significant landmarks this year for me, but we’re determined to go to Greece as a family in September. I start an online Greek course on Friday, my textbook arrived yesterday.

Not sure how old your grandson is, but we used to love Pembrokeshire, lovely beaches without the Cornwall/Devon crowds.
Also quite a few places to visit if it’s not beach weather, Oakwood, Folly Farm, Pembroke for the castle and Tenby is a beautiful town.
Did Snowdon with my grown up daughter last summer via Crib Goch, didn’t bother with the summit as they’re was at least a 20 minute queue to get to the trig point!

I'm waiting to have my gallbladder out but surgery is on hold because of Covid.

Anniversaries aren't a big thing with us, but for our 40th, I used it as an opportunity for families on both sides to join up and have a good time. We found that we were meeting increasingly infrequently and often, on sad occasions, so we all spent the day in a New Forest pub run by a friend of mine, with great food including a spit roast lamb. I ran some Ruby-themed entertainment and the verdict was it was a great day out for all. My principal objective was that I didn't want relatives to go away thinking that they'd stick with funerals next time!

Retire tomorrow 18th, 55 on Tuesday. Hopefully in the next 12/18 months, plan to do round England road trip for 4/5 weeks, 5/6 weeks at my sons in America and a 3 month living in Spain trial. Well thats the plan at the moment and not necessarily in that order.
