Agree will be very disappointing to say the least if we can't progress after landing a very winnable tie.

I think I’m right in saying the last time we reached a quarter final of a cup competition was 1995???

Should be a good game.
Worried about this one.
Good midfield marshalled by Grant Ledbitter.
And 2 decent strikers Ross Stewart and Aiden O'brien
Looking forward to it

I think the OP is saying that the prize for winning is "quarter final, two legs (semi), then final."

I think Rs Holy means the 6th round/QF of the FA Cup in 1995 - The 'Paul Ince is a wänker' game at Old Trafford.

thats the one ... my heart sank when we got ManUre away in the draw... that was probably the last year when we could have realistically won a major trophy? :(

Me too mate. We could have drawn Palace, Wolves, Everton, Newcastle, Spurs all I'd have fancied beating at home and wouldn't have been too fussed playing away but no, it had to be bloody Man U away

Shades of 1990 as well when we reached the last 8 of the FA Cup and we could have drawn Villa, Sheffield United, Oldham, Palace, Cambridge U even Man U who still hadn't won a trophy under Ferguson at that time and would have fancied beating any of them but no, we get soon to be league champions Liverpool.

Never gonna sell out at £25 for the visit of a League One side but looks like it'll be at least a similar gate to Everton, around 13k which was enough for a good atmosphere under the lights.

Last quarter final in the league cup was 1989 at Forest when Clough punched some fans, we lost 5-2

The only thought I have about quarter finals right now is that I really want to see us in one. Just beat Sunderland. I don't even care if we lose to Forest as an indirect consequence. I just really want us to win this game.

‘under the lights.’

Plural. As in, there’s more than one floodlight in operation?

We aren’t going to win so this isn’t relevant but if Sunderland field an ineligible player and we progress by default, the QF is W/C December 20th rather bizarrely in case anyone is booking Xmas holidays.

As mentioned above though, we won’t win so this isn’t tempting fate.

With their pace and our lack of it I think it will be a tough night. Hoping our quality of Willock/Chair will shine through and we can nick it. Seems an ideal game for Amos.
Come on Rangers!

Agree. Here and now, if we beat Sunderland and lose to Forest I would take that scenario hands down.

I think Warbs intimated about 'squad rotation' post-Posh which really worried me. Must be no-nonsense, full strength, eyes-down Rangers starting XI tonight. The 'squad rotation' we can think about for Friday...

putting my prediction hat on I think these will be the teams in the draw for the 1/4 finals (with either QPR or Sunderland) ... Arsenal, chelsea, Spuds, Leicester, Liverpool, Brentford, Man City
