Peterborough, Barnsley, Millwall, Hull, Cardiff… it’s been a wet, dark, cold and windy few weeks. Our staff: players and managers have disillusioned pretty much every inch out of Loftus Road; so called “easy points” have come and gone, from calculating automatic promotion to Warbs’ comments of “remind me where we are in the table?” —like those points, those comments have also come and gone, we are now 7th and no one wants or needs reminding.
After seeing the team's performances for the last few weeks and some of the fan's reactions: "Charity Park Rangers", "we've ballsed it up again”, and some knee-jerk, short-sighted (if not ludicrous) claims that Warburton has reached his time at the club, I have decided to come out of my silent lurker hibernation to simply remind that small minority of our fanbase why this sh*t happens. And why its okay.
2012. Our one and only cameo survival season in the Holy land during the 21st century. Gameweek 28. After a beautiful run of 16 with only 1 win, QPR are 18th in the league and have just lost to teams such as rock bottom Wolves, 16th placed Blackburn, 17th placed Bolton and (of course — because why the f*ck not) Fulham home. The remaining 10 fixtures included playing against all of Sky’s BIG 6. Better luck next time folks. Last man out please turn the lights off. “Charity Park Rangers”. “We’ve Ballsed it up again”. But we didn’t. We hadn’t. We won 5 of the remaining 10 games and 3 of those scary looking big 6 fixtures (Taarabt, Diakite and Mackieeee). We stayed up — it wasn’t pretty, it wasn’t the easy way, it wasn’t for the faint of heart, but we stayed up-.
We are a team that even when we walk a league and have a player like Taarabt doing whatever he wanted with the entire Championship defense, we still cannot celebrate the league until someone in an office argues, pays a fine and makes sure that Ale Faurlin’s cousin’s Fake ID is never found.
We are a team that when we do win promotion playing football it might be with 10 men, chasing shadows in Wembley, with Superman Greeno and “he’s one of our own” Keogh assisting our only bloody shot on target. In the 90th minute. It wasn’t pretty, nobody said it would be. And it sure as hell wasn’t the easy way.
And here we are, with 11 games to go. We’ve lost to Peterborough, Barnsley, Millwall, Hull and Cardiff. “I’m Jack’s complete lack of surprise”. So what if we have to beat Sheffield United twice to get to the playoffs. And Fulham home -we might as well while we’re at it-. With this team of attractive exciting talent, with a manager juggling a budget, I am just grateful that we have come this far and will be cheering them on until gameweek 46. I am reminded of Clive’s quote: “‘The thing about being a QPR fan is you’re not happy very often, and when you are it doesn’t last for long”. It won’t be pretty and it might not be fun to watch, but I’m sure as hell it will be the QPR way.
I agree. For us to win promotion we have to be like one of those plate spinning artists that used to appear on Opportunity Knocks every two to three months. And as the audience we have to live with the perpetual unease of not knowing whether to laugh or to cry.

I don't agree that the discussion around Warbs should be categorised as ludicrous. Both Brentford and Rangers found that after making great progress in developing and managing their squads he ran out of ideas, both decided to twist when many on here say stick. How did both clubs progress after his depature?
Please don't misunderstand my point for preference as I'm still on the fence purely because I think he's earned the right to see out the season, but as I said I can't agree that the discussion is ludicrous any longer, but that's just my opinion.
Can't stand the inevitable next manager discussions when managers do go either so maybe he should stay just so we can all avoid those.
However, if we lose again I can't see any of his monotone post match platitudes cutting it with a large section of the fan base. Squads heads are down, we can barely score a goal and the in game management looks way off in too many games. If I am losing motivation then...(insert Latin proverb)
You're right though after this season we'll probably make the play off's and the met will refuse to police it.

Hello to the OP, as a long-long time QPR fan myself I have long since learn't to take the rough with smooth, in our case though I'd safely say we have all had to deal with a bit more rough than smooth, the brilliant moments/results are just that bloody brilliant and are to be savoured. I don't go along with that Charity Park Rangers nonsense, I don't do tactics nor do I analyse our results to death for me there is only ever one statistic that matters and that's the bleeding result. Hey Hooping_Mad, yeah sorry if the word ludicrous was a bit too strong, I am probably quite biased as I consider myself a Warbs fanboy.
Having said that, I don't think we should be making Warbs' potential sack decision with regards to other teams and their progress as there are many factors which are out of the manager's hand when it comes to a development such as Brentford's or Rangers. If you judge Warburton's track record at QPR he has made us progress every season (including this one), while cutting the budget and developing new assets for the team. Even if we were to finish 9th like last season -which I really think we won't-, the club would still be in a better position than it was 12 months ago (and 24 and 36...).
If that is not enough, what is? Promotion? Playoffs? We have the second lowest budget in the top 12 teams, we shouldn't even be finishing 9th really, but we are, and I think a lot of it comes down to having a manager like Warbs who has made us think what we shouldn't even be dreaming about.
We win games we no right to win, we lose games that really should be a comfortable three points.
I went to Man Utd away new years day 1992, 2 nil up after 5 minutes against an emerging brilliant Ferguson team, the ultimate football manager.
We won 4-1 comfortably and on the day 6-1 would have been a fair reflection.

good read we need some hope right now, the team need a lift and any win at Lootown would be a nice start. we don't do easy wembley v derby would be a prime example, down to 10 men for so much of the game, pinned back and barely a few minutes in the derby half....then wallop, bobby, keogh cries and we go mad. I think you're on the money with all those comments his work has been 1st class thus far. not really sure who else could have achieved what he has in such relatively short space of time. The pro and cons list still weighs heavily in his favour, but we are QPR and I know this feeling well and when we start subbing off the only striker while bringing on the pacey winger who can deliver a cross you do wonder what/if he's thinking in that moment.
Honestly thought that after Blackpool we would have been galvanized by what turned into an ugly win, just what we needed. Lovely. Then they go and do that stupid sh1t against Cardiff. Apart from the goalkeeping department he can't really blame it on injuries as we currently (and I'm crossing everything when I say it) seem to be doing ok there.
Then there's Lyndon and Charlie...Never seen in the same place at the same time. Are they in training or have they moved in together and are just busy picking wallpaper? why the mystery? probably covid related or a 'knock' but wild theories really do abound out there.
Personally i'd be happy if we show some character and pick up 3/4 wins and a draw somewhere on the run in and I'll be content, if that leaves us in the play off then all the chat will be forgotten, if we finish 7th or lower then I think opinion may be polarized

I always thought the QPR way is to beat good teams and lose to dross as well as helping out others in need. Usually the dross.
We know from experience that changing the manager doesn't necessarily work for us. It didn't for Leeds until Bielsa arrived. I guess what happens at other clubs plays a part in why some folk want to change our manager. We were doing well but have faded while clubs that changed theirs managers have moved up the league. Middlesbrough, Preston, Huddersfield, Sheffield United and Forest have improved markedly from where they were since changing the manager. What has worked well for others does not usually work for us.

I cannot believe that some people are even contemplating the idea of ditching Warburton! If you get rid of him, then you have to get rid of John Eustace and Neil Banfield as well, and the whole philosophy of blooding and selling on younger players at an obscene profit goes out of the window.
You would be extremely hard pressed to find two coaches in the whole of Footballland who are more suited to this than Warburton and Banfield!
I would suggest that the issue is simply players having a mindfcuk at inappropriate times in recent matches, and our overreliance on our 3 centrebacks is criminal, given the talent we have at our disposal further forwards. If you put any three people in any walk of life under the extreme amount of pressure that our 3 Bravehearts endure, they're going to crack - plain and simple. I'm not surprised they were grumpy for the whole match last week - I would have been too!
