Rowan Vine undr the cosh 19:03 - Jun 27 with 6347 viewsGaryBannisterswedge

Just stumbled across this… absolute fruit loop but seemingly a very good fit for our then owners, was a good player before his injury, some jaw dropping stuff esp about the “other” forum which I can’t remember the name of 🙄🙄 and the two bawsacks who ran it being access all areas whilst peddling Paladinis propaganda machine!! Car crash listen but worth a go!!!

Bradley Orr part two was very good. Part one was a few too many of those footballer stories about how they all put their sht in each others shoes/beds/toasters/fridges for my taste.

The Rowan Vine one shouldn't have gone out IMO. They had to cut a big chunk out of the middle of his QPR ramble for legals, the only time they've ever done that, and frankly while they were doing that edit they should have asked themselves whether it was really worth it. Came across as a guy lost in his own addled mind, totally out of it, really quite troubled. It was a tough listen.

Every story was either about him dropping 150k in one night in a casino but it's ok because he can do that and it's definitely not a problem, or him turning up at somebody else's birthday, christmas party, holiday, behaving like a complete cnt, and then not getting it when the others couldn't stand the banter. there was a story about him spotting Jimmy Walker on holiday with his mates having a dinner, so he walked up and vommed on his plate, and couldn't understand why he got uptight about it. Another where he was out for a night with the lads and he ripped somebody's shirt off, so they had to spend the whole night out in posh places basically topless, and again they didn't enjoy "that level of banter". One where he two footed somebody on a dance floor straight after they'd come back from an ACL. One where he went on eight different team's Christmas parties in one month, whether he played for them or not.

Even the story about how he got shafted at QPR, breaking his leg and being hauled off to sub-standard treatment in the back of Gavin Mahon's landrover, that turned him from one of the Championship's best players into somebody who couldn't run, was tinged with the fact that the goalkeeper only did it because he'd been taking the piss out of him all afternoon.

I mean, at very, very, very best, kindest take, he's just one of those twts you come across every now and again who behaves abysmally constantly and anybody who objects slightly is immediately set upon as somebody who "can't take the banter". But really it was a lot sadder than that. I'd be pretty fcked up if my career had gone that way too, but like I say, I think they should have thought more than twice about airing it at all.

I wonder if £13m Kane will get signed by Barton for Bristol Rovers.

Now that would be gory!

The Bradley Orr one was really good, not much on QPR but the Blackburn stuff was incredible.

Clarke Carlisle and Marc Bircham episodes are both really good. I listened to the Jimmy Walker and Matt le Tissier ones recently and enjoyed them both

Agree with Clive on Vine, it was quite a sad listen

I love a good well thoughtout insightful podcast. But the footballer ones are now becoming a "who's got top banter" which after a while gets boring and then also you find out who is actually a complete tool.

Weirdly, I've found the podcast Jimmy Bullard does infrequently quite good, because he's actually interviewing his guests and asking for those stories but also talking about something he loves at the same time, fishing (not for me..).

With Rowan Vine, he was/is the same on twitter for years. Just seen the 'highlights' this mentioned episode and I can't bring myself to listen because it will be a car crash as already suggested.

Under the cosh.I get it on youtube. The best football podcast going. As Clive suggested it is a warts and all show and sometimes it can be a little distasteful but the three presenters bring out the best in the players involved.

God that was painful to watch. Over two hours and I stopped after 10 mins. I skipped through segments and it didn't get any better. Probably a lot of interesting stuff in there but the delivery is awful.
Johhny Lydon/Rotten is hard work to watch too but at least he's intelligent. Vine just comes across as a bit dense and all bantz.
Started off by saying he had no idea why the goalie Pickens two-footed him and broke his leg then went into great detail about the build up to it which clearly shows why it happened. Don't wish injury on anyone but maybe if Vine wasn't such a dick all the time it wouldn't then bite him on the ar$e.

Vine has played for about 20 different clubs and never more than 50 games. You can probably read into this that his particular type of humour wears out pretty quickly on people around him.

Shame as there was a decent player in there but not good enough to make up for a suspect personality.

Yeh please don’t take it the wrong way, and obviously the way he was treated in the aftermath was dangerous, shambolic and ruinous, but even at my level of goalkeeping if we’re having a kickabout or a six a side and you’re going out of your way to humiliate me, tease me, make me look stupid, demeaning me, for laughs and bantz, then you can expect me to come through you at some point first chance I get.

Treat yourselves to the Patreon and have a listen to the Tommy Williams episode.

Bask in the glory of how rattled he still is even now about "Pass it to Furlong".

You'll struggle to find a person who is so in love with himself & his self-inflated ability.

The Leon Knight 2-parter is like Rowan Vine & Tommy Williams rolled into one person!

Oddly baseless ego, didn't he spend virtually all his career at third tier or below. Completely forgot he had a second spell at Rangers, anyone else remember that?

It was in that weird Magilton period. We’d had an incredible month including the 4-0, 4-1, 4-2 week but also stuck 5 through Barnsley and then finished before the international break winning 2-1 late at Sheff We’d, gorkss scored eight in front of us in the lower tier. That felt big.

Then we came back after the international break and for some reason they’d signed Williams again (actually his third spell) and Steven Reid and magilton moved the whole team around including (if I remember right) dropping Adel for an away game at Donny who were crap. We lost and it all unravelled from there.

I'm not sure I've seen it again since that day, but in my mind the old 'square it Tommy' is not that clear-cut a chance for Furlong. Certainly not a tap in anyway.

If i remember correctly and i was sitting right behind Williams it would have been a a Bobby Zamora type strike for a goal.I was convinced that Furlong would have scored but i hav'nt seen it since so might be wrong.

I may not be remembering this correctly but I do seem to recall that the end of our purple patch with Magilton coincided with Gavin Mahon - our defensive midfielder - getting injured.

"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."
