Just a reminder that this is a 13.00 kick off. I think that is British time!
I have noticed that Ipswich are playing two games in London today. Palace this morning & then on to Wimbledon. An alternative to playing different elevens in each half!

Just back in from the Halle friendly, and I have to say that the policing was way over the top today. We got off the tram with a few locals who advised us to go a different way around the ground to them because of their ultras. We tried to walk up to get a beer at their end of the stadium,as other qpr fans had done but we were stopped by the police from going in that direction, and told to go to a restaurant over the road for a beer,or the local Aldi store. We tried the restaurant but they weren’t keen on serving us as some of our group of 6 had qpr shirts on.The woman in there said that we had to turn our shirts inside out or cover them up,which none of us did.We left after 1 beer and walked back to the ground closely followed all the way by a police wagon going alongside us at the same speed. They had a fanzine at there end of the ground, and I’m told that a few of our fans were there mixing in with the locals with no problems. We went to the same fanzine after the game and spent at least 1 hour talking with, and mixing happily with the local fans without a hint of a problem, and the police had taken all their riot gear and disappeared in to thin air. The stewards even stopped some of their fans from walking to our section to shake hands after the game.Although one slim chap managed to sneak through and ask me to swap shirts with him, which unfortunately I did.All I need to do now is lose about 8 stone and I’ll be able to put his shirt on.
A real shame that the heavy handed policing meant that we didn’t get to experience the fanzone before the game though. But at least we didn’t lose the game.

So, Mide Shodipo where are we at with him? Impressed me this pre-season. With the way Beale seems to attack and the 5 subs, he's in the squad for now isnt he?
Don't know why Beale or anyone else thinks this lump is ever going to improve. I was hoping he'd be gone by now - but no mugs would have him.
We’ve seen glimpses of what he can do, so it cant be about ability, but those glimpses are few and far between. At some point I think the question needs to be asked, why his performance levels seem to be consistently below what he is capable of.
I’d personally start with Bonne at Blackburn, as things stand.

I've defended Dykes in the past but now think that unless he ups his game pronto, as you suggest, he'll be superceded by Bonne at the start of the season and then by the new striker, assuming we bring one in.

V interesting game. First proper test and a lot of the traits we showed when under pressure away from home at the end of last season are here again. There aren’t enough goals in this team to do anything this season as it stands.
Which, again, emphasises how reliant we were on Willock last season, and how the end of the season was, fundamentally, down to long-term injuries to players vital to our success earlier in the season, all of which was outside the control of the management.
As impressive as MB may be, MW should still be in post.
Looking at the squad, and adding back in Austin, Wallace, Barbet and Ball, I am having to pinch myself to remember that we were second in the League in January last season. Oh the heady days .....

I don't disagree, matey, but come on, he's gone, let's move on...

This is about accountability, Davman, not MW per se. There has, imo, been a distinct lack of accountability at the club for many years. The people at the club should be making the right decisions for the right reasons. I don’t believe that to be the case and the MW situation, again imo, is indicative of that. So, although I agree that going over old ground, just for the sake of it, would be the wrong thing to do, I don’t believe the bigger picture is a case of moving on.

Except....the bad run started well before Willock and Dickie were injured!

Indeed, if I remember correctly the bad run began immediately after the good run ended. Although it was initially know as 'the blip' then the 'extended blip' and really only became a 'bad run' when we dropped out of the top 6 and decided to stay there

Yes agree.
I don't think we will ever know what happened but I do remember Mark Warburton saying after a few bad results, something like...
No, it's just a blip. Two bad results and we are still in the top 6, people start panicking. Players don't become bad players overnight. They're not in there feeling sorry for themselves. As I say good players don't suddenly become bad players. I am fully confident that these players can gradually and slowly become bad players, but it will take time and I think once they do become a lot worse then a mid-table finish should be fully within our grasp.
Or something like that? Anyway, they did rally to slip half way down the table in the end.

Happens with a lot of the old East German clubs. About three years ago, I went with my son to see the team that used to be Dynamo Berlin, who were then playing in Division 4. My son, who was 9 at the times, was patted down by police outside. There were hundred of police and can;t have been more than 4,000 fans.

The bad run started with a loss at bottom club Barnsley in February. Then we got knocked out the FA Cup before drawing a home to Hull. a few games later we lost to Cardiff and Willock and dickie were both fit still.
Whilst it had an impact on how far we slipped, blaming the loss of form on Willock's injury is just an excuse.
