Skyscraper Day is September 3rd if anyone's interested?
This building is the Custom House in downtown Boston. Not the tallest by a long shot, but great to look at and has far better views than the usual tourist lookouts which I'm sure many of you have visited.
It's now a Marriott hotel, but if you're interested you can stroll into the lobby from about mid-day on, wait until they ok your access to an elevator then let you up to the observation deck.
Leaning Tower of Pisa. You used to be able to go up inside to the very top, most disconcerting lurching from one wall to the next in darkness, even more hairy was no guard rails to prevent you from falling off at various levels. I got up to the top and the wind took me straw boater clean off, floated down and some bastard local ran off with it.
I’ve always been quite struck by 11 Mapleton Crescent in Wandsworth. Just off Garrett Lane near the park. It’s kind of ugly but interesting in a stark, bleak kind of way.
