Rangers played pres-season at the Marxist Hunters in '88 or '89. After the game a few of us were drinking in Waterloo Station and bumped into Shearer and his team-mate at Southampton Neil Ruddock.
Ruddock was glowing about how good Shearer was and how great he would be, stating his huge work-rate in training as a main reason. The example he gave was how he'd practice for ages the art of tripping himself up in the box, one instep hitting into the back of the other heel.

There is one noticable absence from the list of players that have played for both clubs. Our player of the season for 2012/13 - Ryan Nelsen.
Mind you, he was used to being the only defender in the team after partnering Chris Samba at Blackburn for so many seasons! |  | | |
