Apparently you don’t get charged for using it abroad or if you need to do currency conversion. Anyone here have any experience with it? Recommended/not recommend, pro’s/cons etc? Any thoughts much appreciated :)

That way I knew the rate and then just spent in Euros the whole time. Used for the two weeks, got back and converted back what I didnt use and transferred to my normal bank account.

I've been using Wise for a few years now, to transfer money into my American account (great fun paying bills over there with the current nightmare exchange rate...). Have never used them for travel though - did they issue you with a card? Edit: Don't worry I bothered my arse to find out - might get one of those since I already have an account. I've signed up for Revolut now so hopefully that'll do the trick in Spain. We're going to be just south of Barcelona and I'm hoping my sons new QPR away kit will turn up next week so I can surprise him with it when we get there.

Have already spent 6 weeks abroad this year and can't have spent a total of more than £100 in local cash, so the limits on cash withdrawals don't have to be a consideration. The back end of Monzo is also really clear and it updates instantly as you spend, and simple to move money in or out, if you've not yet got the confidence to use it as your main account. Long gone are the days of travellers cheques, and waiting outside the local bank for the two hours a day they were open! Whatever you do...do not use the high street banks cards

I was adding to your suggestion, not disagreeing with it.
