A conversation with Lee Hoos 07:54 - Nov 28 with 7362 views | andrew1302 | I had the opportunity this week of a discussion with Lee Hoos prior to the Cardiff game who I have to say was very open and as a person very impressive. I have no doubt he has the club’s best interests at heart. My conversation was respectful but also quite direct. I said that the fans were still in support of Marti but felt that Nourry had not done well on recruitment and if there was a lamb for the slaughter the general feeling around me in the Upper Loft was it had to be him with maybe Belk to follow. I was also scathing about Celar but at the same time concerned for his welfare. It can’t be easy having 10000 plus people giving you a hard time. This was before his tremendous evening! Firstly Marti was a part of the recruitment process , nothing was thrust on him with regard to the first team. He was not however involved in the recruitment of development players . Having said that Marti has liked the look of Morgan and Bennie and has upgraded them. Lee also pointed out that Nourry was heavily involved in the January signings which made a significant positive impact. With regard to Celar he apparently is really good in training but his confidence is very low. Lees view was that as a crowd we should try to help him rather than chastise him. He appreciated this can be difficult but he could not emphasise enough the effect the crowd has on moral. I have been guilty of the being exasperated with a couple of players - Celar, Madson and Anderson especially!- but I hear that they are trying their best and cheer rather than a jeer may be of greater help. Lee was open to a suggestion that someone , maybe Paul Morrisey should provide an update as to the process and where we sit as a club at the moment. If he can do this I think it would be very helpful. Overall I have to say a lot of my faith was restored [ doesn’t mean we are not on trouble but I do believe people care a lot] and Lee really could not of been nicer or more willing. It will certainly be helpful if Paul can provide a statement and let us hope this happens. I guess despite perhaps thinking otherwise my impression is that everyone is pulling together and it is not an us or them. Regardless of what happens it was important to me to have a true sense that people cared. Also that Marti did not have players imposed on him was good to know.

A conversation with Lee Hoos on 20:47 - Nov 28 by GaryBannister86 | I find it irritating when told the fans should get behind the players. We do, constantly, for very little reward over many years. We are there, home and away, sometimes barely acknowledged. Literally the only note of discontent recently has been when Celar was subbed on Saturday. And that was late November, for a £2m+ signing who was not only goalless but showing absolutely nothing. I don't think the fans are to blame, ever. |
Great post . Still selling out home games , travelling in thousands to away games spending a fortune , with very little comeback from fans for almost no reward over 10 years or more of utter dreck… and Hoos thinks WE need to get behind the team? You’d laugh if it wasn’t so insulting …AND….if it actually happened anyway . Maybe I’m way too cynical.

fans couldn't be more supportive at games really, a few booed Celar on Saturday but that was more due to his lack of effort than him being not very good. Given how bad we've been the last 10 years it's incredible how much support they get

Agreed 100% with the previous five posts (unless the Elbow is among those, unseen). As a fanbase we've been bewilderingly *nice* to the past few groups of players through the door here and owners while we've got progressively worse. It certainly isn't for lack of support from the fans that we've been absolutely dog chocolate for nigh on a decade

Well it wasn’t very ‘nice’ you calling players kunts and pricks early this week was it? You don’t do irony.

A conversation with Lee Hoos on 15:13 - Nov 28 by Padulas_Shampoo | Just to point out there's a WLS article with quotes (in black and white and from the horse's mouth) from Cifuentes where he says: "I keep repeating, the club needs to understand there are some things that we need to improve as a club that I’ve been saying since the summer and so far we have not improved those areas." "One win, it’s a step forward, but we need to take many more – and we need help." Doesn't sound massively like Marti is particularly pleased with the summer recruitment after all. I think from certain definitions that's a clearly supported point and we could start labelling it as a fact! Don't shoot the messenger! See my posts. MC has adjusted its feet on the topic as his team has started so poorly.

A conversation with Lee Hoos on 13:52 - Nov 28 by Superhoops2808 | Fortunately he is on my ignore list now after the weekend so not sure what he has said to DaveB, one of the most useful posters on here, but as I have reminded him before, as soon as you slip into insults, you have lost the argument I do agree though with Padula's Shampoo... Not checking you are logged in first should carry a health warning |
In that case, as I've been insulted and maligned on this board more often than I can shake a stick at (and most recently called a pornographer), I should be an expert.

A conversation with Lee Hoos on 20:07 - Nov 28 by Northernr | My experience with Lee Hoos over the years is whether you know him or not, whether you agree with him, or like what he says, or not, he's always very candid and open with QPR fans who want to speak to him. It's why I thought it was a bit of a shame that video coming out a few years ago with the guy on the moped stopping him on the street, abusing him, then putting it on social media when he gave him the bird in return. If you want an adult conversation with him, he'll have one. |
I sent him an adult email, engaging him around certain specific issues, and received a bland response his secretary probably wrote.

A conversation with Lee Hoos on 14:52 - Nov 28 by derbyhoop | All decisions re recruitment had to consider the finances. IMHO, that's why we couldn't afford Hayden and explains some of the gaps in the squad. Add in so many injuries to key players and we should all understand why we are 23rd. A bit more experience from the newbies + return of key players and I hope we can stage an uptick like last season. |
I agree with you that to some extent Nourry and Marti like all people in their respective roles have slightly differing priorities. Like all managers they have to think of today: their standing generally depends on right now. Immediate results are key. Nourry has to consider now but also the future. His brief is also to find the next Eze or at least the next Cook, Chair or Colback but at FFP prices. Hayden isn't worth the PL cost in my view - look how we got in hock with Johansen and Austin and screwed up the next two years FFP recruitment cycle. I think Varane is showing signs of being a much better long term prospect than Hayden but on a budget. Unfortunately we have had the perfect storm of losing our best player, Chair, plus our best left sided defender, Clarke Salter, our best hold up striker, a very experienced DCM, our best back up CD, while introducing a shed load of new players, meanwhile at the same time some of our better players from the end of last season like Andersen and Dunne playing like dog shit. That's not all down to Nourry. Personally I think he hasn't considered the physicality of the Championship: too many nice boys and short asses. However I think context is also relevant. Lee Hoos also was future focused. I think the achievements of getting the training ground delivered given the Warren Farm debacle was pretty heroic. I was pretty impressed with him and his willingness to engage with fans. While I agree our fans at the ground have been incredibly patient I also see from his position it's a normal stance to encourage them not to boo the players, particularly those who have threadbare confidence. Yeah I don’t get why some of this group are insulted like that. I see a lack of confidence but no lack of effort. The reaction of the squad to Celar scoring said it all to me. However I would say that at the games, the support has been excellent (for the most part) for the team.

Exactly my point, the fanbase have been exceedingly patient. Even the boos for Celar last weekend weren't exactly widespread by all accounts
