If not for Bazunu, we'd have deservedly lost 3 or 4-0.

He is better than McCarthy. He is braver then him, kicks better than him and makes more saves than him. McCarthy is absolutely terrible. His performances are comically bad.
We're lucky Bazunu was in goal v Pompey instead of McCarthy or we'd have lost that game.

It got a bit tasty after our equaliser..
Overall a good evening. A small gripe, disappointing that there was not a souvenir programme to commemorate the game. Lets face it, we don't play Real Madrid every week.
Not even a team sheet, which by the way probably wouldn't of been any use as some of the names , or numbers, on the electronic score boards bore little relation to the kids on the pitch. [Post edited 30 Oct 10:20]

One of the main reasons why I can't accept McCarthy being in goal for us is his lack of bravery. He's afraid of a hard shot hitting him. So, when he's at the near post, instead of holding his arms up straight like other professional goalkeepers do, so that there is no space above him for anyone to score, he keeps them down so that he can protect himself in case the ball is about to hit him in the face or between the legs. Opposition forwards know this, which is why they shoot above his head into the net and score goals.
Quite often, when opposition forwards are close to him, he shows obvious signs of fear and panic and instead of coming out, he retreats over his goal line into the net, from where it's almost impossible to make a save. If it's a long range shot and he knows it won't hit him, he does dive and make a few saves, although his reflexes are so slow that he often fails to dive in time.
When you look at his career over the 10 years before he came here, you can see that other clubs wouldn't tolerate him for long:
