Chair…since he’s come back 22:46 - Nov 5 with 7126 viewsHammersmithR

We have gone back to old habits. Slowing the play down. Such little end product. Manager doing everything to get him in the side. We are a weaker side with him in the side. The manager needs to be brave and revert to what we were doing earlier in the season. We have been found out big time. Another season of being woeful at home. Ipswich hadn’t won away all season. Southampton had won 4 games in over 60 matches. We have the 2nd worst defensive record in the league. We are an utter shambles at the moment. The manager makes so many changes every game. The back 4 can’t build up any solidity together. The midfield and striker is an absolute lottery who plays. Just pick your best side for FFS. This tinkering every game is clearly not working. On our good run we had a pretty settled side. Now we will go to Sheffield and be another defeat. This manager is not learning. Simply repeating his mistakes.

That a very good point about Chair. We all expect something he rarely produces anymore sadly. Think we got worse when he came back last time as well. Not the player he was anymore. He certainly can't be first on the team sheet anymore...like he was in the past.

Most of the goals we're conceding are down to laughably inept defending. Chair isn't a defender.

Chair Is such a talented footballer, he also can be so bastard frustrating

As for the Manager, I make no apologies and as I said after Saturday's defeat I was losing confidence In him, well I've lost a bit more tonight.

NO I don't want him sacked but he better start sorting this shit out PDQ.

This old ground of ours used to be a fortress, It has rapidly become a gift shop Managed by some bloody French bloke I'd never heard of until he turned up.

I don't know about Chair, I want more from him.

My Father had a profound influence on me, he was a lunatic.

He was dropping back into Varane's spot to get the ball himself and played some of his best touches in our half tonight.

He doesn't help teams unlock defence and often spreads the ball wide when he plays centrally rather than feed the player ahead, to be fair a team just crossing blindly for 40 attempts doesn't do that either but obviously our Manager hasn't quite spotted that.

Manager doesn't know his best team or formation. Not blaming Chair for tonight.

First time poster and lifelong fan, born in the 60’s and my favourite cheese is a strong cheddar.

Didn’t want my first post to be negative but the frustrations with style of play and change since Chair has come back is a problem. I think Chair slows the play down too much and is predictable. We were best when we were playing a faster passing game without him in my view. Him using strikers as a decoy is not the way forward in my view.

Need him benched, sub only in my view.

Pretty much my thoughts about Chair.

Chair feels like a bizarre person to single out. He didn't play against Millwall, was good in his cameo against Swansea, played only half an hour against Derby and I think is one of the few players who played ok in the last 2 games.

He moved the ball quickly to play Burrell in for the chance he had early in the second half. He put in several good corners. He works really hard out of possession.

Feels like correlation and not causation. I don't think you can blame him for Esquerdinha's errors on the weekend or Mbengue/Morrison being at fault last night.

Whilst Chair undoubtedly has natural talent he's not a team player. He's always looking to cut inside for the miracle shot. Teams are on to that but he still tries it anyway. This is why Premier League teams have never shown an interest in him. It's a team game.

I thought he played well again last night, wouldn't point the finger at him

Saito, Varane, Mbengue, Dunne and Morrison all far bigger problems last night

Let's pack the team with clones of Field and Dunne that'll do it!

There are always fans around where I sit who criticise Chair. He has his faults, but for a couple of seasons he carried this club and we'd have been relegated without him. Since coming back from the latest injury I think he's been as good as anyone on the pitch with the possible exception of Burrell. His corners and crosses created more danger than any other QPR player. Yes, he sometimes holds on to the ball too long looking for the cut in and shot, but as we struggle to find any other way to score not sure I blame him. He certainly didn't gift 2 goals to Southampton last night.

That's not what people are saying, Holloway!

Chair hasn't been the same player since 'Rockerfella' and the flow/pace we had prior to his return has gone. For me, like others, he tends to over complicate matters.

When folk look back at the promotion season of 2010-11, many remember the exploits of Taarabt and Faurlin, and with good reason. However, what some forget is that both were already at the club before Neil's arrival yet the team was average. Warnock identified a lack of work rate, teamwork and fight so he went out and acquired Kenny, Hill, Orr, Derry, and Mackie. That spine transformed the team from one that had finished 13th the previous season to one that won the championship at a canter.

Now I love a Victoria sponge cake, the highlight of which is undoubtedly the buttercream and jam. However, when you break it down it's 85% sponge. Without that sponge you're left with an inedible plate of goo.

That position behind the striker if we play one up top, is probably the one where you can afford to have a player who isn’t much help defensively. But that person does have to be our best at creating going forward. So, for me, whilst I like Chair, I’d prefer him on the left and would give Saito or even Dembele a go in that position behind the striker.

Strange that Saito and Smyth both got hooked for contributing diddly, yet Chair takes the flak for supposedly slowing the game down. He played in the centre and has a better touch and range of passing than Kone ever will. Also first full game back, needs time to get up to speed.

The defence is the issue, constant changes and no consistency along with terminal schoolboy errors.

Swapping Madsen’s partner game by game isn’t helping either.

The miracle shot that resulted in the Burrell goal against Ipswich and almost repeated last night?

Criticising shots on target now, go figure.

Scrapping the barrel, go figure. If you try something three hundred times you're bound to get lucky once (and that goal was lucky because the keeper misjudged a routine save).

For your one example I raise you dozens of examples where Chair has ignored the overlap, refused to take the ball to the by-line, taken pot shots that have come to nothing or (in the case against Swansea) missed an absolute sitter.

There's a reason why teams further up the pyramid have never looked at the boy. He's not a team player and doesn't play the percentages.

It's no coincidence that a winning team went on a bad run when Chair waltzed back in on no merit. The first team is not the place for players to get up-to-speed.

Good cheese. Welcome.

Clever teams can adapt to what in front of and try plans B & C, the trouble we're having seems to more around plan A.

Chair, I don't think is back up to speed yet but lets see if those bad habits return I think he may be trying to be less selfish with the ball.

It may sound mad but I'd play him in Varane's spot for a game or 3 and see if he can do a job for us in there, it would also make it easier to include all the other wingers and 10's we have. He can't win a header so it will never work long term but it will confuse teams. Possibly.

Yes it is, it’s called getting “match fit” and comes with playing in fully competitive games not kids games.

So our losing streak is Chairs fault, having just completed his first full 90 minutes and a couple of part games, Nothing to do with defensive calamities, or two piss weak CDM’s that do nothing but pass the ball back and sideways, or Saito and Kone who have gone missing in the last 3 games?

Take the blinkers off mate.

As I’ve said on the other Chair threads , it beggars belief that he seems to be one of the main concerns . Thought RND was man of the match last night , but closely followed by Burrell and Ilias.

Seems a bit of an easy target to me .
And I’ll repeat the same thing , he deserves better than to be dug out when so many others , who ARE match fit are hardly contributing at all ?
Saito anybody ?

I don't have any stats but I am pretty sure that two or three of our rare good runs over the past few years have coincided with Chair being on Afcon/WC duty or injured. Personally I am completely irrational about him: I know he was our best player for a long time; I know he's carried crap QPR teams almost single handed; but he completely does my head in and my heart sinks when I see him come on, I can't help it. Watching him dribble back and forth in front of a packed penalty area like a fly at a window...

All im going to say is a number of fans say similar about chair as they did about taarabt!

Yes they wont always play amazing but they also can create something from nothing and can turn a game. Chair can but needs more around him. I genuinely thought saito, dembele and saito would work well but hasnt...... yet
