Excellent subs, tactical change and game management by the gaffer.

Aldershot did well but we were defensively sound throughout. First half we were sloppy but the subs, inc Burger temporarily playing LWB, made a difference and we were much better second half and we deserved the win.

We all groaned when he took McBride off. But fair play, the subs made a real difference. Not a great watch, but winning ugly is the next best option. Shame about the gate, but the uncertainty with the pitch doesn't help.

The wind was a major factor today. Both teams struggled to master the conditions but we got there in the end. I also thought that the cameo by Amanchi was as good as he has been, although still can't see him being here when the loan period expires. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Yep, spot on Exactly as required and we suddenly had pace and guile. Plus, the determination to see the game out when the owners had pulled out all the stops to get us onto the pitch And what a massive three points, with Boreham Wood and Carlisle faltering

Again the 2 in midfield were overrun so we often went long to little effect and no changes made till the last 20 mins. On the other hand I thought Berkoe had his most effective game going forward and making several crosses and it was important to get the 3 points in however ugly a fashion. Credit to Aldershot who pressed high (with their midfield advantage) and played some neat passing football.

I think i must have watched a different game, i thought the performance was under par and the second half was utter chaos. Our decision making was poor and we were very fortunate to keep a clean sheet. Very poor game management after taking the lead with some desperate defending. Aldershot had some decent players and their passing and movement caused us problems. Amantchi isn't a footballer i'm afraid to say. A excellent win though but we can't afford to play like that and expect to win too many games. [Post edited 15 Nov 18:49]

Luckily we got away with it when Moss played that crazy backpass when we should be going forward. As bad as we were on another day Dieseruvwe could've got a hat trick! Just not happening for him at the minute but his early season finishing will return I'm sure. We just needed a win today after the York wobble and thankfully we just about did enough. It is looking like York and Forest Green will be our main threats for that top spot and neither look like dropping off any time soon so we just need to keep winning!

| Refwatch - Rochdale v Aldershot Town on 18:33 - Nov 15 with 4018 views | Daley_Lama | Aldershot made us look poor first half. Their high press and close man marking across the pitch made our passing game struggle and at half time, for me, they were the better of the two teams. Our right/their left was the game of chess bit, Tobi given loads of space, on the flip their 11 stayed forwards and caused us worry time and again. Second half i thought we came out much better and were building up pressure up to and including scoring the goal. After that Aldershot doubled down on their attacking and subs aplenty for us. Berger at LWB? Interesting 10 minutes. Moss and Petit on to restore defensive back line (Tobi switching sides) - worked very well. Petit in particular looked good when on. I don’t know what people are expecting from Amanchi when he comes on for the final 10. He harries, chases, tries to hold up etc and does a job. Ok, he had a chance to score but a last ditch tackle did him. Special mentions for EELs (back to his best) Whatmuff (brave lad he is) and Happy Gilmour, great to see him score. Tough won 3 points against a team that had scored as many goals as we have (before kick off) Last note: Aldershot are 7 defeats on the bounce. All by a single goal. That’s tough. | |

They are also on a run of 10 games without a win at Spotland in league and cup football, of which nine have been losses!

Not direct changes to the midfield two at that point, but the introduction of Barlow and Burger opened up the options our midfield had around them, including allowing Gilmour to get into the six-yard box on 65 minutes [Post edited 15 Nov 19:18]

| Refwatch - Rochdale v Aldershot Town on 19:40 - Nov 15 with 3571 views | ChaffRAFC | A scruffy win but after Tuesday night, I guess all that mattered was getting over the line today and we did that. Aldershot were a lot better than I was expecting I think and their 11 (Jones) and 31 (Sheckleford) were very good and caused us problems all first half at least but that said, we defended well all game which was pleasing after Tuesday. Ebanks-Landell was my pick for MOTM today I think. One thing I've criticised Jim for in the past is his substitutions having no positive impact on the games but that wasn't the case today. Barlow and Pettit especially were excellent when they came on and gave us more of a presence in midfield so credit to Jim for that. | |

| Refwatch - Rochdale v Aldershot Town on 19:40 - Nov 15 with 3566 views | The_Referee | I would argue it's a good win. For the majority of the first half we were very sloppy and struggled to find a rhythm. The pitch looked very slow, which I don't think helped and wind is a very underrated when it comes to having an affect on the game. It stopped us going long as an out ball when they pressed. I thought we improved as the game went on as we got more control in the game. Second half was much better and I think we probably should have won by more. Especially when Burger and Barlow came on. I think we need to look for an alternative to Amanchi as a back up to Mani, even if its just to rest him. It may be because he hasn't been played enough, but it's chalk and cheese in terms of levels of quality and physicality when Mani is brought off. | | | |
| Refwatch - Rochdale v Aldershot Town on 20:36 - Nov 15 with 3341 views | EllDale | Scruffy game but a win nevertheless. You can’t expect the same freeflowing, expansive football in November that we enjoyed at the end of the last league season and the start of this one. The weather and the pitch prevent that to a degree. There were chances to score in the first half when there were several goalmouth scrambles whilst Rodney and Berkow managed to get themselves in a tangle with a sight of goal on another occasion. Mani D and Rodney also contrived to squander gilt edged opportunities after the break. I’m a big fan of East but the introduction of Pettit gave more physicality. Pettit is much more suited to muck and nettles football. Although he didn’t get on the pitch it was nice to see Pritchard back on the team sheet. | | | |
