| Two-tier taxes? Are there different rules for ministers? on 10:09 - Nov 23 with 483 views | johnlangy | I don't understand people. Why on earth can't we wait and see what happened before commenting ? 'They (his people I believe) insisted Mr Healey had “fulfilled all his obligations as a tenant by notifying Westminster council of the second home status of the tenancy on the council tax registration form when the tenancy began”, adding that he had now paid all tax in full. While the council accepted it had made an error, the Tories said Mr Healey still had questions to answer about why he had failed to notify the council of the underpayment when he received the “incorrect” bill.' Does anyone on here know what the wording on the bill would have been for him to know it was the 'incorrect bill' ? I don't. I bet the vast majority of the rest of you don't either. Why not wait until you know. | | | |

Most if is know what our council tax bill should be and any surcharges, we expect MPs to be capable of basic housekeeping. This first thing the likes of Reeves, Raynor and Healey do is blame someone else, ignorance is no defence for the rest of us.

I know. When I get our council tax bill it may state I owe say £2000. And £200 is deducted from my account over ten months. I don't know what it might say if it was a rental or whatever but if I was told to pay £2000 that's what i'd pay.

A minute on Google reveals Westminster Council's council tax page which says plainly the surcharge for second homes is 100%. https://www.westminster.gov.uk/council-tax/council-tax/council-tax-discounts-and
