Everyone I know from that area doesn’t need any safety measures.

Napoli was an eye opener in fairness.

Imagine Marseille is similar

For balance the Newcastle fans were smashing their police about a bit prior to the match.
Crystal Palace are on it tonight then wonder why the heavy handed response?
They’re police are not expected to be baby sitters , mental health workers and diversity experts.

You go to France behave because these dudes don’t mess around.

I would never advocate violence but would kid gloves of worked at millwall v West Ham or Swansea v Caaardiff back in the day?

Marseille is very diverse indeed.
The diversity is their biggest strength so much so you have involuntary charity donations enforced.
Don’t be bigots now this is progress 😬

Kemp sets the tone and builds up the tension as he says: "Ever since we arrived in Marseille, we've been told by everybody including the police, that we shouldn't go into the estates.
"It's too dangerous to go in to them and if we should go in to them we are going to be attacked, the camera will be taken off us and the car could possibly be burnt out."

In the event, they made it out alive, with the only alarming moment coming when someone threw a block of ice out of the window that hit the bonnet of the car.

There you go so this is why the police there are just doing their jobs.
Battle hardened and probably have ptsd from just doing their jobs.
Being a bit harder and not letting a full street war breaking out is probably in the interest of the Newcastle lads.

After the Liverpool champions league final should French teams be allowed to even play in European competitions?
It is a good question they can’t police games why should they be allowed?

Absolute idiots. Lock them up.

Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

I'd be the same if I was the Calais police; I'd be helping them onto the dinghies! It's soft touch Britain that is causing the problem in Calais. No wonder the police there hate us!

Me and the wife called in there during a cruise trip , even in the "better " parts we never felt comfortable there .

This topic has turned a little.

This is the only time i will post on this subject as i dont normally do politics.

Cities like marseille are like this because of imperialism.

This topic should be moved to non football imo.

Interesting thought. Taking this a step further, could it be argued that one key factor in the creation of a city like Marseille is the difference between French imperialism and British imperialism, with the French being more open to the domestic assimilation of colonial populations?

We are catching up mind! Apologies for taking a football thread away from football.

French imperialism is far more obtrusive than the likes of the UK who banned slavery in 1807. I won’t move the thread, but will close it now mate.
