Had we drawn with Blackburn and today 19:03 - Nov 29 with 4004 viewsloftboy

We would have all been happy but had a point less!
Bad day at the office today, got everything we deserved.
Only plus point is I’m already home and dinner in the microwave.
Plenty of “friendly” stick off the locals on the train back to Lowestoft, going to get slaughtered at work tomorrow.

Wasting your time Rob, no sense of perspective here. One game lost of a long week after 2 wins (2 points per game is promotion form) - As you said a bad day at the office and we need to park it and move on.

You know the usual suspects like Stained Pants will be here later getting all excitable on his keyboard and slating the manager, Damo will be along because he only comments when we lose.

Hope work tomorrow aint too bad ;-)

You’re missing my point, 6/9 points better than 5, but there wouldn’t be any of the moaning on here if it was the latter.

It’s not the result so much more the abjecivity and lack of mental guille shown by too many professional footballers in hoops.

People have a right to moan, there's a positive and a negative to most things nowadays.

Today we got a negative, next week we might well get another one.

We're not a top six club and probably not a top ten club either.

I always thought of saying If we'd won this or drawn that then we'd be higher up the league as nonsense.

Basically as a club we're comfortably numb and will probably remain so.

My Father had a profound influence on me, he was a lunatic.

Of course you’re spot on. But I find it amazing after all the talk of rotating squad and the strains of the 3 game week and getting back at 4am on Thursday that we trundle out with same team as 2.5 days ago. Love to know thinking behind that. Arrogance? Reasonable to question the decision making today.

Varane has hardly been pulling up any trees. Surely Hayden deserved a start, he’s been decent in games he’s played. Maybe Field alongside to keep it tight early doors. Kone - surely deserves a go up front by himself. Smyth - definitely deserved a start after Wednesday. JCS? RND? Starters no??

I think that there is a bigger point at play here

We are playing truly awful football.

This week we’ve had one half decent half against Hull. Blackburn was terrible, but we happened to win.

We are playing like a Sunday league team. We couldn’t win the ball or pass it to a hooped shirt today. The defence are doing odd things because they spend their whole time covering for the fact that the keeper is glued to his line.

This is a very decent squad (missing an 8 and a keeper) and we are massively underperforming. Playing kick and run football that is awful to watch. How can anyone think that bringing Frey on is the solution to anything?

Hayden played like a grown up when he came on and Morgan tried to pass forwards. They are the only positives I can find.

Warburton would have this squad in the top eight playing attractive football. Cast your mind backs to his football…we’d go one down and not worry as we knew we’d score three. If Poku is ok for the bench then surely he could have played 30 minutes?

That's too simplistic a view as it also depends on who you're getting those points against. This season QPR are really struggling against teams down the bottom and giving them every opportunity to close the gap and suck us into a relegation battle.

In any event, what happened earlier in the week is history and therefore somewhat irrelevant. It's always about the next game. When you boil it down, we were playing a team second from bottom who hadn't won at home since May. To lose the match and in that fashion was unforgiveable.

Spot on mate. We've needed an 8 for years and years. How the powers that be can't see it I'll never know.

There also wouldn't have been the plaudits and enthusiasm after the last two games

Yes, with hindsight that week looked at as a whole was good. But can't fault people for feeling as bad about today as they did good about the last couple.

I agree about your comments that Warburton would have us playing better football but one advantage he had was Eze who was a cut above. We don't have anyone as good as Eze now. It was the same way with Warnock who had Taarabt but you have to wonder if Warburton and Warnock would have have had a more difficult job without the likes of Eze and Taarabt who were the best in the Championship. Our recent managers have not had such gifted individuals to beat ordinary opponents like we faced today.

Warburton had us playing truly terrible football for weeks and weeks the year he left. The scary thing is, I'm not sure how much better these players are capable of. I'm also seeing little evidence of any udnerstanding forming between the likes of Chair, Dembele and Saito. Our briefly promising CF is dreadfully off the pace. Our defence seems to be wilting. Our goalkeeper is some kind of vampire. Apart from that, I'm much encouraged.

Was that the season we fell away badly in the second half of the season? I regret to say as I get older, one awful season tends to blend in with the many others experienced since 1997 that they overlap. Certainly the last 10 years have largely been forgettable with occasional highlights like beating Leeds 4-0.

Got to agree. Most of the time I watch us I'm not sure what our plan is. We seem most successful when we have less possession, which can't be a great strategy to build long-term. I thought Stephan's management was shocking today. How he started with Field at left back is beyond me. Fine, rest RND on Wednesday but put him straight back in on the Saturday ffs! He was our best player today.

Okay, Kone's form has dipped recently but surely he's a better option than Frey. My mum is in a nursing home and she's a better option than Frey.

He's obviously compromised by the goalkeeping situation but apart from that, we should be playing better football with this squad. We could barely make six-yard passes today and that's on him. Like you say, Warburton would be getting far more out of these players in terms of playing football.

Remember they've got a new manager, working out the clusterfudge they've been through in the last 6-7 months. Badly beaten by Birmingham in his first game - 4 days after he was appointed - he got a draw against Oxford next and that was almost a win.

He seems to have started making a difference and it was always likely they'd win - we were unlucky in terms of timing to get shafted with the shítty stick today.

It's always noisiest at the shallow end

Its not about being 'Happy Clappers' its about looking at the bigger picture. Yes, it was an awful result and performance yesterday but the way several are suggesting that we have become a bad team overnight.

I think what the OP is saying, is that had we gone the whole week unbeaten, the forum would likely have been 'should have/could have done better' but still unbeaten. This team has been inconsistent all season, but I'm sure it will change.

I make no apology if my opinion makes me a 'Happy Clapper'

The more games you go unbeaten, the closer you are to your next defeat... for a side like Coventry and the form they're in, they go on long runs... for a side like us, coming off the back off of a horrible run with a couple of wins, we're going to mean revert a bit quicker...

And I'm sure this has been done to death elsewhere, but the schedules this week were totally out of whack... Norwich played at home on Tuesday, we went to Blackburn on Wednesday... yes I'm surprised we didn't rotate the squad but he's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't... you're a genius until you're an idiot.

Good post and agree with most of this, although some of the Warburton ‘pass it between the back four’ became unwatchable
