Hillsborough - not a single officer will be held to account 16:06 - Dec 2 with 1743 viewsdmm

The bereaved families have been fighting for 36 years for justice and have been denied, even though their case has been vindicated. It's an absolute scandal and must be incredibly difficult for them to accept.

Yet another desperate low for the police in this country.

The officers' names are at least in the public domain, even if feels like a Pyrric victory at best. They all retired (or did the decent thing and died) to avoid accountability. So much for being 'public servants'. Pubic perverts would better cover it.

It was always likely to be the outcome .
Grenfell and the post office scandal the same .
The common man will always be the loser in these cases.
Utterly disgraceful.

I didn't watch the British Post Office scandal ITV programme.

I have however been watching the statutory inquiry, It beggars belief, the scandal has been called the UK's most widespread miscarriage of justice, I believe the police are still investigating, with fingers crossed prosecutions happening In 2028, Far-far too late.

Sorry, folks,

What's the latest development?
I've honestly tried a few online news sources and the reporting is all over the place.

To those of us bought up watching Dick of Doxon Green and thinking of your local bobby giving you a clip around the ear'ole and telling you to bugger off, it's upsetting to think of the force not being not what it should be.
That said, I'd be lucky to last five minutes in that job.
I dunno really, they obviously should be taken to task

There are several instances of fans getting punched at the Sheffield clubs, and the police see it and tell you it’s your own fault for coming up here.Always seems to be South Yorkshire officers turning a blind eye.

Is Hillsborough the biggest whitewash in legal history?
20 years too late, months of inquiry, thousands of pages of reports, and nobody responsible enough to face any punishment.

Not exclusive to Sheffield. I found policing in Birmingham to be very anti London, I was 'done' at a couple of clubs up there and the response from the boys in blue was a few additional slaps. Cities where I did experience decent Coppers were (not in any particular order), Coventry, Liverpool, Derby.

I have zero respect for the police today and there has always been corruption and a lack of a moral compass in who they chase and who they dont.

So often, some get away with so much and others get hounded for ridiculously innouous deeds.

Its as bad today as it ever was.

Only recently someone was prosecuted for using a homophobic word in a text to a friend. Somehow, it was picked up on. Its not something the legal system should have any input towards. Not saying i agree with it, but it was a private communication, not even on a social media site and was said after the person had actually got a fractured skull from an attack and was suffering brain fog snd sent the text whilst in hospital. They got prosecuted with no previous record at all and before the people that had inflicted the assault on this person.

Its not great what some post on social media etc, yet people have even got custodial sentences for posts especially with regards to atrocities like the murder of the three little girls not so long ago.

The fact that even after the Post Office scandal, so many have yet to receive a penny. Why?,? A bank transfer today takes seconds. And as for the Epstein Scandal, only person prosecuted so far has been a woman and the people who could have spoken out in court, Epstein himself and Virginia Guiffre both mysteriously committed suicide. The amount of security, Epstein himself, was under, it was impossible for him to be able to do this. Even, going back to the demise of Princess Diana. There are questions unanswered.

Just saying, money and power corrupts and our society is less fair and very biassed towards those with money and power. Huw Edwards not getting a custodial sentence for one. Obviously Saville and everyone knew about that at the time too.

This Hillsborough disaster, everyone on planet earth has been aware that the police were culpable. It was known by most from that sad day in 1989.

So 36 and a half years later, its been decided by yet another enquiry, it was the polices fault. However, basically those in charge that day, are all retired or have passed away.

Perhaps, the justice system would like to investigate the Vietnam War or re hash the Versaille treaty at the end of the World War One.

Personally, i would like to see justice for King Harold dying by an arrow that pierced his left eye in 1066.

These people need to be held to account !!!

Seriously the legal system in this country and in other so called leading nations of the so called civilised nations of the world is a mess and always has been.

Justice in this case and so many others, has never been a priority...

But hey ho. Thats for another day or lifetime as the case may be....

I remember being met by hostile police coming off the train at several away venues. Shoving people around, trying to provoke a reaction etc.

A visit to Southampton stands out in the memory because the police were actually friendly when we arrived.
