It’s 1-3 now but we would have given up completely in Derby’s case. 2-2 Norwich @ Watford.

Two second half goals from Watford after they trailed 1-2 earlier was a very good result for us. With the Portsmouth match abandoned, the focus shifts to the two Sheffield team games and our game.

Why was it abandoned? That’s not good for us as they’ve got a rest today.

Medical emergency in the stands. Not sure what it was to cause 20,000 people to not see the game.

I just read it in BBC Football. Clearly, it’s a bad situation for the individual but to abandon a game??!!. Maybe more details to come?

I know this is likely to be a tragic story for the person concerned, but can't help wondering whether abandoning a game in these circumstances is something to do with today's less resilient society. Was there a feeling that a serious health issue or death was so upsetting that players and spectators would be too badly affected to watch the game conclude? I remember a game at Exeter years ago when the ref blew a forlorn blast on his whistle and collapsed. He had suffered a fatal cardiac arrest but, after a brief pause to find a substitute official, the game carried on with a linesman as referee. Changing times I suppose. [Post edited 6 Dec 17:19]

With the heavy pitch today, that will have taken it out of our chaps. Definitely a benefit to Portsmouth with them hardly playing 😡

Somewhat mystified by this the poor person suffered a heart attack was taken to hospital and sadly passed away, years ago games weren't abandoned over medical instances

I don’t agree. It’s very sad, clearly but an incident such as this which, I’m presuming is not down to crowd issues and general safety should NOT result in a game being abandoned. A lot of people have travelled and spent large amounts of money to go to the game and I retest, although very sad indeed it should have restarted. Nothing to do with people not having dealt with a lot of death!!

I can only speak from my own view, if that happened to me my thoughts would be play on, get on with it. But I’m unsure who he was, where he was or the impact on people around him. I understand the bloke died, if there’s kids around or people haven’t experienced such things then maybe there’s a point to calling it off. I’ve seen too many deaths, maybe it makes you numb to it.

Couldn't agree more, and I have dealt with death of close ones on more than one occasion

It’s also the case the deceased would not have expected the game abandoned His team winning would be paramount
