| Fourth Round Here We Come Match Thread 11:57 - Jan 10 with 40004 views | numptydumpty | Carrying on as Match Thread Op - "winners stays on", after good result but not so great performance against Sheff Weds. Got a feeling, we will be heading for our usual defeat in the cup, and with four key players injured, am guessing it wont be a top team at all selected. And think West Ham will play a top side as a defeat here and i think Nuno loses his job. Hopefully Mr Ronnie is at least in the squad also. Regards the result, let us pray !!! | |

| Fourth Round Here We Come Match Thread on 18:37 - Jan 11 by rbee | I was watching with my brother in law, a big West Ham fan, and we agreed on Bowen, should have influenced the game more. We know we won't see the same performance levels unfortunately, teams lift themselves for these games. The prime example being Plymouth who beat Liverpool in the cup last season and reverted to type straight afterwards. |
I think Bowen has played every minute of every game so far this season. Thankfully

| Fourth Round Here We Come Match Thread on 19:59 - Jan 11 with 1583 views | Juzzie | I’ve seen a few comments on social media about it being an opportunity missed. If we had a full strength team with Edward’s playing and going at it like vs Leicester then maybe, but we didn’t have any of that and they were bringing on £20-£30m signings as subs while we had DS players. Those are the differences between the Championship and PL. Even at 2-1 down and having to get a goal, you still have to be careful about going hung-ho and getting caught on the counter, it’s a very fine balance. I think free kicks and corners were our best chance of getting a goal back without risking conceding a 3rd but West Ham dug in when we had those opportunities | | | |
| Fourth Round Here We Come Match Thread on 20:07 - Jan 11 with 1508 views | Dorse | My view, for what it's worth, is that the stats will still say 'QPR out in Round 3 again' but this is far from the scrotum-shrivelling display we were treated to last season. No heads dropped, even in extra time. Thought Madsen played well, as well as Kone, Dunne and Cook. Dembele annoyed me but tbh no more than usual. So, not unexpected but we didn't shit the bed like we normally do. | |

| Fourth Round Here We Come Match Thread on 20:30 - Jan 11 with 1402 views | numptydumpty | I was very impressed by us today. Very much enjoyed the occasion, and great experience for some of our lads. For me, two of our players came of age today. Both Kolli and Walsh had some special moments and for me , neither were overawed by the supposed quality we were facing today. Cook and Madsen both had decent games throughout also. Hayden also for me had a very decent showing. I was impressed and think with him covering Varanes absence for me he could be at least as good, sometimes better. But our clear MotM was captain fantastic Jimmy Dunne - incredible defensive effort. Talk about putting your body on the line. Brilliant. Basically most other seasons, it would be round four here we come, but no real disappointment for me and an amazing showing from the real heroes - 9000 + Rangers fans. A very encouraging performance without the final reward but many plus points to look back on. We are better than we once were. There's no doubting that... [Post edited 11 Jan 21:08]

| Fourth Round Here We Come Match Thread on 18:53 - Jan 11 by themodfather | qpr team did all they could imo, v a strong prem side, was the new 40m? striker their scorer?? anyway i can't fault any qpr player , we HAD A GO got level and lost to a very good goal. choker but we were not mugged off. downside, long walks, i think sherpas would have struggled getting to upper tier seats, long way from pitch, high roof means no atmosphere , massive pitch . great support from us. |
Agree with all of that Mod except 'the very strong premiership team' bit. They've got the stench of relegation. They narrowly beat our injury-hit squad. They've got some pace up front but that's about it. Their defence looks lower half Champ.

| Fourth Round Here We Come Match Thread on 21:51 - Jan 11 with 1108 views | baz_qpr | Was at the ground, pretty decent atmosphere where I was in the lower tier next to the Wet Spam fans, limbs for the equaliser. Performance wise I thought we did pretty well. Standouts for me were Dunne, Madsen and Kolli (I've read posts critical of the last two and I have no idea what you were seeing, some of Madsen's defensive work, positioning and reading of the game was excellent. I dont think they laid a glove on us in the first 30 minutes. Bowen clearly best player on the pitch and those corners he was taking were a different class. We chose to play with a mid block and not press too high and most of the time we were in any danger was in transition. Cook who was generally great made a bad mistake for their goal. Second half we were far more aggressive and the goal was coming. Had an Arsenal fan. next to me who had taken a mates ticket kept going on about how good he thought Kolli was. Great goal, Kone had a much better half once he had gotten up to the pace of the game. Smyth had a very decent half as well (if only he could make the right final pass) Gotta say though Walsh made a couple of fantastic saves to keep us in the game and scores even. So well done to him he had a really good game. Our fitness though is shocking. Ok we lost Saito to another Hammy, but our general fitness is miles off what it should be at this time of the year. We were totally spent at 80 minutes. They've had a weak recovery from the last game, we should be able to get through 90 minutes and the first half was not played at any pace at all. Could see why Adamson has been no where near the team, need to file that one away with Santos for bad gambles, looks non league quality. Quite a lot on the socials from West Ham fans saying they should try and buy Dunne. Have quite a few West Ham mates. They are a very poor premiership team a top 6 championship team maybe and only if they keep Bowen. All in all can't be too unhappy, Ref was a total homer! [Post edited 11 Jan 21:52]

| Fourth Round Here We Come Match Thread on 22:28 - Jan 11 with 996 views | nadera78 | I was a bit surprised that we dropped deeper almost as soon as we'd scored, they looked ropey as hell when we put them under pressure, but I guess Stephan knew how short we were on legs. That was the real difference today, they had more options on the bench than we did and we, halfway through the season, still aren't fit enough. Can't do much about the former, given our recent burst of injuries, but the latter is absolutely something we should not accept. Changes need to be made behind the scenes on that score. Still, it would be churlish to criticise the players and coaches today, they gave it a shot. You can't ask for much more than that. | | | |

Soucek coming on soon after our goal made a big difference, he drove them forward very quickly. There’ll be a time for picking out the bones and finding fault later. We haven’t got the strongest squad - though Madsen, Dunne, Cook, Kolli, Hayden and Walsh all had terrific games - but tonight I’m thrilled to have seen all of my team display the same passion and fury that any of us imagine we’d show ourselves if we ever had a chance to wear the shirt.

Big point about fitness. Been unacceptable for a couple of years now. New fitness coach (or director or whatever poncy title they come up with) is biggest signing we could make, and best value for money.

| Fourth Round Here We Come Match Thread on 17:33 - Jan 11 by CiderwithRsie | Echo the other comments on here. Support in the ground sounded terrific on the radio, well done to all involved. Puts a bit of context on our track record in the cups, though. We're a fairly easily pleased bunch - put out a proper team and give it a bit of a go and we'll be happy. I'd like to think a message has got through, Julien seems to get it anyway. Good to hear Bradley Allen on the radio commentary too. |
I echo these thoughts about our fans, we have been starved of any kind of interesting cup draw for so long and our record in the FA Cup speaks for itself. Many fans of my age grew up on the 82 run to Wembley and moving forward I hope we always treat all cup competitions with the respect they deserve. It felt like a day to celebrate QPR with friends and family whatever the result and a hike to finish. They are missing a trick not turning the Olympic Park into an East End Theme Park or doing something with it. The space around the stadium hasn’t been filled since the Olympics and Rugby World Cup in 2015 , they haven’t changed the stadium layout at all since those days. I wouldn’t be surprised to see an AFC WHAM in the coming years. Fine for athletics and music but blimey.
| Fourth Round Here We Come Match Thread on 10:03 - Jan 12 with 368 views | Jimboqpr | Very good performance. Full of guts and determination against a side with more ability and depth. That has to be the bar for cup competition performances and team selections going forward now, stick it up on the fridge and tell all future managers and players that's where it needs to be. Whether it be West Ham away in front of 9000 away fans or Barnet at home in front of three open stands. Yesterday was probably the most effort I've seen us put into a FA cup game in my adult life and I'm almost 40 now! [Post edited 12 Jan 10:05]
