Are no jobs created by green energy? It’s an Express article so nobody should be surprised with its interpretation. [Post edited 11 Apr 10:54]

He's already caused damage, every time I see the clown interviewed he just grins and giggles, he's another of this Labour parties utter clowns.
| Madness that is net zero on 12:40 - Apr 11 with 1622 views | AnotherJohn | Even Rachel, Sarwar, Swinney and now Blair are calling for a more balanced approach in the transition to net zero, and in the latter's case, stating flatly that Miliband's approach is ideological rather than pragmatic. I think we all want to get to net zero eventually, but not at the cost of destroying British industry to get there. It is becoming apparent that high energy costs aren't just making traditional heavy industry uneconomic but also affected enterprises in areas like AI innovation and big data processing. | | | |

If they are not doing a good job the PM can sack them. I've come to the conclusion that those who think it's good for our economy to have some of the highest energy costs in the OECD and to be 25 to 80 percent higher than those costs in Europe probably don't run a business or work in one that has to make more income than it costs to produce that income. | Madness that is net zero on 15:55 - Apr 11 with 1523 views | majorraglan | The headline for the Daily Express’s article is misleading - surprise surprise not! One of the reasons given by the energy company is “energy costs” but as Gwyn has identified, nowhere has the company concerned referenced net zero etc. in addition to the costs issue, the AI company have also made reference to a second issue (which the Daily Express has only acknowledged briefly in the last sentence) which is one of regulation - specifically the ability to and use copyrighted material belonging to others. Owners of material, such as musicians don’t want their stuff being used without payment and they want creative control. In terms of our power generating capacity and the grid, it’s been an issue for years and something that numerous governments have kicked down the road. Electricity usage is increasing significantly and the country has not invested in sufficient generating capacity to the extent there have been numerous reports about the potential for blackouts in the future. The wholesale price of our electricity is determined by the most expensive source on a particular day which in invariably gas, so all generators are paid for each KWH by the gas price and it’s been like this for years, if we had a different system our bills would be cheaper. Whole system needs to be looked at. I’m all in favour of renewables, but they need to be part of a diverse supply system. [Post edited 11 Apr 18:40]

As others have pointed out this is nothing to do with net zero, I also don't understand why it's a left v right thing. It's just investing in infrastructure.

I do. It's essential. Not heading down that route will decimate life on earth, moreso than the meteor and associated events that made the dinosaurs extinct. It makes pretty much everyone's lives worse already. I genuinely don't understand the issue with "clean" energy generation, what is the problem? Of course the bloke who funds Reform makes his money from selling fossil fuels but I'm sure that has nothing to do with it.

Mine included, my lad's lads purpose built adapted room and bathroom is north facing and despite the adequate insulation, its still the coldest room in the house. My Koi pond costs me 20 quid a month on average electric use, washing machine and dryer is on most day's with my youngest's clothes, he's on loads of meds which affects his bowel movements and you can guess the rest.
