I’m going. When I’m back in Bromley I tend to drink in the Red Lion, North Road (near Bromley North station). It’s a little bit hard to find and not particularly close to the ground, but they do a great pint of Harvey’s, which is more to the point. There’s usually a few grizzled old semi-pros watching football on TV in the back bit. Easy enough to jump in a black cab to get to the ground.

I just clicked on the Bromley fc website and it says that away fans can buy it the home areas.We are in the George Wakely stand. East stand terrace [Post edited 27 Jul 18:55]

I would agree with you and it’s good to see the future plans but it’s not great preparation for the senior team in a game that actually matters against Millwall, who just drew 1:1 with Bromley.
Fiorintina were wide open and that’s hardly representative of a championship level game. I hope we can continue to play the way we did against them but rather suspect we will have to change system to grind out results. Perhaps we’ll see a different system and more pragmatic approach against Wimbledon, with a full starting 11 and hopefully suffer zero injuries because we’ll need them to compete. |  |

You my well be right, but I think Bromley will finish higher in League One than Wimbledon this season.
I'm expecting (based on absolutely nothing!) that we'll play first team attack in one game & first team defence in the other. [Post edited 29 Jul 9:33]

Yes, there was much to enjoy in Saturday afternoon's performance, but we should not get carried away. I believe that the strategy is to score more goals this season (JS). But, I would like to think that we also have plans to get a better grip on midfield and reduce the number of times that our opponents are able easily to cut through us and threaten to score. There seemed to be a pattern to that last season. If we are ambitious, that must change. | | | |

Bromley was my local non-league club growing up. That they are one division below us now irks massively as does the fact that they are upwardly mobile right now.
Really would be the final kick in my teeth if even they went above QPR in my lifetime...
No real fans there as the vast majority have another club; 2000 weren't supporting then five years ago. Nice to see a non Wrexham rise through the leagues, but hopefully they will settle back down soon...  |  |

It’s only natural that their recent success has attracted more support but I think it’s a stretch to say that there are no real fans there.
Let’s not forget that The Bromley Boys, certainly one of my favourite books about football (forget the film), was written by one of their own, the late Dave Roberts, whose love affair with the club began in the 60’s when they were in the old Isthmian League.
I know what you mean about QPR being overtaken by supposedly ‘inferior’ teams though but, in that sense, the fact that we are now third in the pecking order behind Fulham and Brentford gives me more cause for concern.

Just remembered that I actually played for a ‘celebrity’ side back in the 80’s when I was living in Brighton. It was some sort of charity match against a local lighting company and my ‘qualification’ was that I vaguely knew some bloke who read the news at Southern Sound, the local radio station, who approached me in desperation the day before as they couldn’t raise a team.
The only ‘celebrity’ I’d heard of (but didn’t recognise) was Chris Cattlin, who managed Brighton & Hove Albion at the time, and that was only because I saw the team list in the ‘programme’ (an A4 sheet of paper folded in half) afterwards.
The venue, I think, was the old Goldstone Ground but I can’t remember much about it because I limped off after 10 minutes with a pulled calf muscle and went home. | | | |
