How on earth can we sign someone in January? He has one training session and gets injured and then we are told on various occasions ‘he’s training and in contention for Saturday’. I suppose the club have never said which Saturday. He hasn’t played any part in pre season and we go into the new season on Saturday and he hasn’t played any not played a minute for us. An absolute disaster of a signing. Do we ever do homework on these players? Turning into another Taylor Richards type signing. We spent 500k on Obikwu! |  | | |  |

I don’t get this thread at all. Is there any evidence for this claim or is it another conspiracy theory? I haven’t seen any, issues about this player related to previous clubs. It seems unfair to imply things about him based on the fact he’s been injured since joining. |  | | |

Some people do indeed post some utter nonsense.
For those of us who have actually supported the R's for many years will remember in the late 90's we signed a player called Richard Ord from Sunderland.
He got injured before he made his debut and 2 years later he had to retire because of his injury without ever playing for us.
Unfortunately this kind of thing does happen so maybe Obikwu is another Ord but hopefully for his sake he will soon be fit enough to play again.
Now let's be patient out and allow the lad time to try and get fit. | | | |

It was reported ages ago that his injury is bone bruising.
I'll post this article again on tennis player Jack Draper, who's been suffering from a similar issue. If you can't be bothered to read it, the condition takes ages to heal and there's no surgical procedure for it.

I thought I must’ve misread and that they’d actually braised his shin bone and the squad had it for lunch with mustard mash and broccoli.

Didn’t Chair have bone bruising too? I imagine it’s a hard injury to come back from because the only treatment is rest. But then it means you’re coming back from an almost zero level of strength and conditioning, so more likely to injure yourself again. That’s exactly what happened to Chair who spent almost all season getting niggles and never really being fit.
That sounds like a plausible reason for him to be taking a while getting fit again. | | | |
