I think that assessment of our transfer window and where we are generally is spot on.
Kone's slow start to the season is a bit concerning, but hopefully he can snap out of it.
The centre backs could be key for us. Injuries to Dunne and/or JCS could give us big headaches.
The recruitment looks good and on paper we look better than I was expecting us to be at this stage.
If we can keep the injury situation under control then top eight looks very doable this season. Bring it on. [Post edited 2 Sep 9:59]

Very interesting and balanced view of events. I've seen a number of things recently on the hellhole known as X essentially stating that if you don't think Nourry is the Messiah then you must be mentally ill.
I've not been a fan to date, primarily due to his lack of experience which plays out in his communication style and inability to admit mistakes.
However, I agree that the business done this summer does look good and does indicate lessons learned. If, in a couple of years, we are still on an upwards trajectory, I will delight in being I told I was completely wrong. Let's see - we definitely should win tonight, and I'm looking forward to it, but it's QPR innit! |  |

There were rumours of interest from Stoke and Birmingham. His name was clearly put out there for a loan along with Bennie, Morgan and Sanyaolo yet he’s the one that didn’t move. Are you telling me that a young player with his G/A per min wouldn’t attract offers from clubs then I just wouldn’t believe it.
Unless of course they’ve heard that he’s got a reputation for being difficult and have steered clear. Either way, his career stagnating seems to be entirely his own fault. | |

I'm struggling to see Nourry as the next Damien Comolli.
Although I like this line from Comolli's wiki:
"After leaving Liverpool, Comolli spoke out and defended the club's record, while expressing some regrets about not being open enough with the media and fans about his successes and strategy"
Looking at Comolli's wiki he had a spell at Monaco as a youth player and gained a law degree and a French coaching licence before becoming a sporting director. Experiences CN completely lacks.
Besides, why look for the new Comolli when the original has just left Juventus and is out of work:

It was a really good summer transfer window, but not great as like the article mentions.....Centre midfield.
I've got a horrible feeling that either JCS will shatter or Edwards may be overrun (Boro coming up) and the lack of a really good CM will be an issue again. I really hope not.

Wouldn’t Gallen be a higher target? The proven success he’s had with actual sales surely makes him more valuable.
I hope we’re doing some succession planning though just in case.
Of course Nourry isn’t the Messiah. Things haven’t come to fruition enough to claim success but we’ve definitely made enough progress not to want any disruption quite yet IMO.
X is a cesspit and I rarely look at it. I meet enough loons in my everyday life!

Les Ferdinand did have the resources to sign the kind of players we did this summer, just not some of the big ticket players of recent transfer windows. Nourry has clearly done well in the transfer market in recent windows, even if it pains some to admit it.
Against that there have been mistakes but as Clive says - and I have long argued - Nourry’s strongest quality is that he learns and improves.
The question mark, as Clive also highlights, is Aziz - Millwall again get big money for a player and we haven’t yet. If we don’t need to sell till next summer then fine, let’s see where this season takes us and I am confident with this group of players there will be at least one that a club is prepared to pay decent money for. But we haven’t made the play offs or sold anyone for big bucks yet so it is fair enough to say it’s too early to pop any Champagne corks. “Cautious optimism” sums up my mood. | | | |

Depends where the loans are, I doubt he wants to move down to lower leagues after doing well in this division. If offers were on the table from Stoke or Birmingham I imagine he'd have gone but no suggestion there was any truth in that.
I don't know the truth of it so think it's harsh to blame him for not going. He seems to struggle with fitness a lot which is quite possibly the main reason he's not involved, he got injured in an under 23 game recently as well.
I'm personally glad he stayed and think he could still be a real asset for the team this season. | | | |

The chances of a club like West Ham having noticed a "significant improvement" at Rangers while finishing 15th & 16th in The Championship would appear to be very optimistic in my view.
And you chuck in ANOTHER attack on Kolli, which has nothing to do with the chance of Nourry moving to another club. I might not be recalling the words used correctly about MC, but wasn't "betraying the club" what was intimated. How would this be any different?

To date you cannot say Nourry has moved the dial in terms of the clubs on pitch performance.
Let's see where we are mid December and then again at the end of the season as League positions are surely the barometer????
I still remain un-convinced by this squad due to the huge caveat on fitness plus I've never been a big fan of Kone to get us the number of goals a challenging side need.
We are also short of nous and experience in the middle.
Does this squad look better than the last five or so seasons when all available? Definetely and the strength of recent benches underpins that.
How far up the table that propels you I don't know but I'm hoping come April / May doubters like myself are eating humble pie and giving Nourry some well deserved praise.
