3 points off the play offs 19:08 - Feb 2 with 2107 viewswelwynranger

Mention it to a Preston fan , he will be delighted.
You will get a different reaction from a Leeds fan

I thought with that comeback against Millwall in the week the momentum had really shifted towards them again, especially with Lokomotiv Gunnersbury getting beaten, but then they get done at home by Wigan again and Bam Bam is back to spaffing a billion chances up the wall.

Funny stuff.

I'm torn. I don;'t want to pay £42 to see us lose at Elland Road again next season, and I don't want Brentford lording it over us any more, but I also think
a) they'll be fcking insufferable if they go up
b) if they don't go up Bielsa will go, another financial collapse maybe, best chance for a decade.

Nobody seems to have informed them of this though. Absolutely fcking abysmal for most of the last 20 years, carry on as if they're some dominant global super power having a bit of a sticky patch.

Mind you they have sold 110,000 kits this season. It's not surprising they've got delusions of grandeur.

I'd rather Brentford went up as we're their cup final every year and half the posters on here seem to work with loads of Brentford fans and bellyache more than normal when they beat us.

Watching the Leeds v Wiggun game on Quest I was amazed to hear Bamford is the only Leeds player on double figures, the next best scorer is on five !!!

I'm not a big fan of this "expected goals" stat that all the hispters beat themselves off over, but among the Championship strikers Bamford is so far and away the worst one for it (basically missing chances that should be goals) they can barely get him on the graph any more. Wells is best, obviously, sob.

unless Leeds has grown at a very rapid rate it is considerably smaller that manchester, latest figures i found where 2015

Manchester 1,903,000
Liverpool 793,000
Leeds 761,500

given 4 years have past I would say its a good bet that Leeds could have surpassed Liverpool now but its nowhere near Manchester

The Manchester figure is when Man Utd are at home.

Did I ever mention that I was in Minder?

Not season defining games but forrest v Leeds and Bees v Boro Saturday if they go the way of home wins next weeks game at GP v Leeds could see us go above the champions of Europe.Sadly still think Leeds will go up automatically along with 6 or 7 clubs with a good chance.Very poor division this season in my opinion with no stand out side.

I got the figures from here

https://www.citymetric.com/sky

I drive through and around Manchester and Leeds a lot, both cities have grown significantly in the time i have lived in Lancashire but Manchester is way bigger than Leeds in real terms, I suppose with statistics it depends on definitions and boundaries. Manchester is a much bigger city than Liverpool now

It's all about how you define what the area you're measuring is.

In terms of metropolitan area, Manchester comes third after London and Birmingham, Leeds is fourth: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/

However, based purely on the city itself, Leeds is third and Manchester is way down in ninth: http://www.ukcities.co.uk/popu

Although having said that, even then there is disagreement, and it's not clear what different sites are basing their figures on (or the date of the census), for example here, Liverpool is fourth, Manchester sixth, Leeds eighth: https://www.thegeographist.com

There are a lot of 50/60 somethings in the south that started 'supporting' them in the sixties/seventies, Revie era. Some of their 20/30 somethings have followed having been taken as young sons/daughters.

Bit of a tangent, but I think Salford is generally counted separately to Manchester in these things, but itself is 4-500,000, and you barely notice when you're moving from one to the other - added together, I suspect they'd eclipse Brum as second city.

Similarly, Bradford is right up there - more of a noticeable distance between Bradford & Leeds than Mcr / Salford, but still very much 'close neighbour' cities

Poll: Best hug a stranger / fall down five rows / 'limbs' late goals this season
