I've been there with work a few times and a few of my mates are from there, downtown is alright but it's all about getting out to the rockies, hiking, skiing, there are some cool towns around as well such as Fort Collins old town and Boulder...
My brother has a place in the mountains there somewhere. So high you can get altitude sickness just hanging out at his house (if you're a bit wimpy that is)...
N I admit that I was there about 10 years ago.. I stayed there for a couple of days before heading up to the mountains to go snowboarding... so times may have changed
its not the most bustling city to go to - its not like NY or SF, you can probably do it in a couple of days and see most of ths ites.
a couple of things to do, that you may not be aware of: The Coors factory in Golden (about 1/2hr on the bus) does tours. It gives free samples at the end too! just remember to take your passport to prove you are over 21 or else they don't let you.
Billy the Kid is also buried in Golden, you can visit his grave
Both the baseball and NFL stadiums do tours. I was there in the winter, so only the baseball stadium was doing them the days I was there, but it was really interesting
I went and sore the Arena (American) Football team play - but they have NBA, (real) football, NHL and NFL - so check out the schedules and see whats on...
