Was impressed by this.

Difficult to tell if Millwall were bang average or we out performed them both up front and kept them very much in check at our end.

Decent though and best part for me was a clean sheet.

As others have said Paal was outstanding today and with Laird also looking very competent on the other flank, our weakest positions last season are now potentially our strongest - but let's hope they both stay fit - as realistically there seems be little cover.

We did what we had to do upfront - Chair and Willock have both gone up a few gears from last season and Johansen has been another strong performer also.

In midfield, once all are back fit, we seem to be overloaded with talent.

It seems many will still pick out negatives.

The boo boys have been picking already on Roberts, Dykes and Bonne. We seriously need to give these boys some slack. It's about the team and am sure currently we in top five scorers in this league - will have to check - but certain people on here also, will always "look on the bright side of life" NOT !!!

But for me that was our best game of the season so far.

Millwall weren't at the races at all. We kept them very much in check.

Into the lions den indeed !!!

Yes superb game management, thought we looked up for it. Same as at the Watford game, that was the turning point of the season for me. Mick Beale is really getting it together. Thought Bonne did well when he came on, tracks back and created a good move with Albert. Like Roberts, he just needs a goal.

What I liked about the subs last night (including Bonne) is they came on and worked hard so the team performance didn’t drop off. An endorsement for Beale that he’s managed to get the whole squad to put in a shift even if they’re not starting the game. It’ll create healthy competition for places and hopefully bodes well for the long season ahead.

The word I used to describe last night's performance was 'control'. We're increasingly seeing Beale's narrow and compact shape working to set the tempo and character of a game. Millwall had a few chances as any opposition side will but for large periods of the match we dictated play. And with Willock and Chair in top form, we're almost always going to score goals.

first goal was key last night, i thought first half was very frantic neither side on top, we started the second half well but goal changed the game, they went long and desperate and we were able to hold them off. If they had scored first I think the performance would be getting similar slatings that Swansea got as we were quite sloppy at times on the ball

Didn't like our time wasting second half, thought it was all very unnecessary and ended up meaning an extra 10 mins was played.

I did think Dykes was very good when he came on and lots to be positive about, performance was very similar to a lot of the away games we've won the last 3 years.

Finally have to say what a difference Dieng makes to this team, his injury was the main reason last season fell apart imo

One thing I noticed is how hard the subs worked last night. Big endorsement for Beale that they’ve also bought into him despite not starting and bodes well for some healthy competition for places in the starting 11.

Good point re Dieng. He gets us playing on the front foot from the back. Can’t help but wonder how last season would’ve finished with Dieng and Willock not injured.

I'm positive we'd have made the playoffs, I don't think we'd have won them but sure we'd have got there

Yeah good point Dave, currently so many positives around the team and it's easy to forget what Dieng contributes.

As for the strikers well of course it's nice if they're scoring but ultimately they are still playing their part and creating space for others to score - if the chances and goals dry up then yes that will be a concern. Until then though

I feel it's not going to hurt Dykes at all to see Roberts starting in his place - needs to be kept on his toes.

When he came on he was chewing gum quite extravagantly - slapping it around in his mouth with a Lee Van Cleef scowl. First or second free kick he motions to Stef to stick it on his bonce and wallop - first contact, ball directed across the box, have that you Wall mugs.

Let's get him working on that character - I've stuck a couple of spaghetti westerns in the post to Heston this morning with an apology about the VHS format.

There have to be 3 or 4 reasons why things are clicking - time on the training ground, 2 quality fullbacks (which is mad!), bit more legs in midfield, competition for certain key positions. All very promising. One of the things you could see was this idea of us moving it forward with purpose and then working it around the '10s' - still not all clicking I don't think but you could see it was causing them problems from pretty early on when it did.

Yeah all those things but probably most key is having Illy and Willy on the pitch at the same time - currently in a way it's really quite easy for the other players, just play the ball to their feet and let them do their thing.

Paal improves every game and Roberts is an absolute baller. The goals will come but his awareness and ability is fantastic. Very suited to this style of play.

Never knowingly right.

I thought Millwall looked like Charity Park Rangers with the second goal and we started to worship the PNE gods with our homage to the Dark Arts of game management.

I expect a copyright infringement notice to be sent to QPR from PNE for a breach of their holding rights on the Dark Arts from last night's activities.
