How much must their wage bill be?

I reckon you could buy our club for the cost of their annual wage bill alone.

They’ve obviously not given their grounsdman much of a pay rise.
Pitch looks awful.

eye watering... and they've got around FFP by giving the players stupidly long contracts....Enzo Fernández is on an 8.5 year contract.... its crazy but this is chelsh1te we are talking about so no doubt they will win lots of silverware :(

They must have a squad of 35 internationals and the average wage must be at least £150k per week minimum. That would work out at £273million per year and that’s without the management and the puppy farm. No wonder the can’t employ 10 men to go mowing and look after the pitch 😂

Poll: Where will Clive put QPR in his new season preview

A small tin of chopped carrots and a nice woolen jumper per week.

My Father had a profound influence on me, he was a lunatic.

ESPN is reporting 39 Pros on their books right now. That is actually 3 players for every position ,4 for a few including Goalkeeper.
Keppa and Mendy were not enough they have 4 now
A valid question was how Potter was going to manage training and would they all fit into 1 dressing room
How is that legal its stupid

Is there not a limit on how many a club has to nominate as part of the squad for the remainder of the season? 25 or something like that? Or, can you just have as many players as you like and then just choose from that conglomeration whomever you want for each match. I thought that was the problem with Forest and their cast of millions and thus why certain players would not get a run in the first team for the remainder of the season.

It may well be their demise down the road, though. 8 and a half year contracts, what could possibly go wrong?
Fernandez, Benfica bought him for under £10m this summer, 4 goals in 29 games for them, an ok world cup imho and one very good goal and now he's £100m? Ridiculous.
£600m on players, and Havertz and Kepa start. Eff me.

Surely (hopefully!) this ends in disaster for Chelsea but the lucky bastards will probably end up winning the champions league this season.

I’ve seen Clive mention there’s a limit on how many players you can loan in and play, how about a limit on how many players you can loan out to play.

Limit that and you’d stop this squad cramming overnight.

Dare I say we just need the 2 manx clubs, Arsenal , Newcastle and Liverool to keep finishing above them for 2 or 3 seasons. No champions league revenue will hurt their ffp numbers. If Brighton can keep finishing above them that would be hilarious they can then sack Potter & his team adding more dollar bills to the fire.

They will sell off(at significant loses) players not being used.

If they sell them cheap with no spread payments then this helps with their income. Think Giorginho to Arsenal was like this

captains fantastic

Yes, they deserve an exemption because they are demonstrating financial responsibility in their transfer dealings.

Please stop saying they are down the road, they are on the other side of London. I think their apes often frequent a mall called South Side too.

Whereas I believe our much more prestigious one is called Westfield. There is a clue there.

Like the time they finished 6th in the league and won the jammiest, most undeserved european cup/champions league in history where they barely touched the ball in the semi or final.

Hopefully this time it ends in tears. Certainly looks a desperate strategy, if you can call it that.

I admire your confidence, but Manx football isn't quite of that standard.

"Swiss Ramble" estimates that CFC's wage bill for 2022/23 will be £364 million, and he's very reliable on such matters.

Beyond that, he reckons that they should actually be (just about) OK regarding FFP - people don't appreciate how much revenue they've picked up from sales and loans, which go on the books immediately. and which go to offset their purchases, which are spread out over the length of an incoming player's contract, some of which are up to 8 1/2 years!

All of which shoud not overlook the fact that their financial strategy is what they would call long-term, but the rest of us would call "kicking the can down the road".

In particular, it is dependant upon continuing success on the pitch (to maintain revenues) while the strategy works itself out over time.

On which latter point, if they don't qualify for the Champions League for next season (worth just over £100m the year they won it?), then they could be in serious trouble long before then - they were already one of 20 clubs (4 from the PL) on UEFA's financial watchlist.

At the very least, they would have to sell a number of players in the summer to raise some revenue, and since these could not be the ones they've signed recently, then it will be players who've already been at the club a while. Which must be hugely damaging for morale at the Bridge - just at the time when they desperately need to pull together.

Oh Dear.

How Sad.

Never Mind.

There is a limit - to Europe, at least.

Spurs were all set to lend Doherty to Atletico, when Rennes came in to borrow Spence. Spurs realised that Doherty would be their 8th, and final permitted loan, meaning they couldn't lend Spence.

So on the basis that they would rather keep Spence on their books, they simply tore up Doherty's contract, bunged him some money in compensation, and he went off and signed a six months contract as a free agent.
