380 million years……..
at 11:02 16 Sep 2022

Since we last beat Blackburn. A fossilised fish has been found in Western Australia reckoned to be 380 million years old.
Scientists say because we have two of everything we should have two of, plus the shape of our mouths, we are descended from fish. How come there are still fish about then ?

Denis Howell….

Could be the answer to our right back problem.
No seriously, those of a certain age will remember him being “Minister of Floods” when we had the drought in '76. No sooner had he been appointed, it started slashing down for days on end.
Hosepipe bans on the way for most of the country and I understand, steam iron bans for some.
I reckon Boris would be a good Minister for Floods.

The highest example of musical artistry

I've always been torn between Beethoven's Ode To Joy and the audience interpolation of 'ave a banana during the singing of Let's All Go Down The Strand.

BBC 100th anniversary

Christ that went quick !
The government, especially the forgotten but not gone Boris, have had it in for the Beeb for years now, and I wouldn't join that hostility. However, I hate the way the corporation has dumbed down in order to compete with commercial channels. Not being a snob really but I'd like the BBC to focus on more serious and artistic content.
Anyone else ?

Box Office Closed

The Box Office is closed today, no doubt to get the staff mentally prepared for the rush of people renewing tomorrow, when next season's prices are announced.

Anyone know if he's OK ? He was clearly badly injured in the clash with Thomas in the second half.
We were all amazed he was able to play on.

Loans
at 12:05 7 Apr 2022

Taken for granted as part of the game now but didn't exist at all when I started watching football.
Although we've benefitted from some loans I've never really liked the system as it can distort competition with some clubs better able to access loans than others.
Is it just me ?

Ocado
at 21:06 26 Mar 2022

I'm having to isolate this week ahead of a minor op next Saturday ( that's put the tin lid on the Fulham game ), so I thought I'd check on what beers Ocado have.
Amazing - hundreds of beers at keen prices and no lugging heavy bottles or tins home.
Recommended to all fellow Artistes de Pisse.

Hols

A nice spring day and an old man's fancy turns to hols.
This year presumably untrammelled by Covid.
The wife fancied a few weeks in Bridgewater, Somerset.
I was a bit put off by that song, what was it ? Oh yeah, Trouble Over Bridgewater.
Any plans yet ?

Reasons to be (quite) cheerful
at 20:08 5 Mar 2022

It looks like we won't be playing Fulham or Brentford next season, so a few hidings avoided. Leeds like quite likely to be relegated so that will occupy Sky's “minds” if you can call them that.
Any more ?

Don't suppose many on here old enough to remember him - I can, just. Quite a ball player it seemed to me at the time.

How about Ossie returning at right wingback thus releasing Albert to bring a bit of pace and a different dimension to the attack ?
