Robin Smith gone
at 19:39 2 Dec 2025

Used to enjoy watching Smith and Lamb piling on the middle order runs for us. Smith was amazing on the off-side from memory - drives and cuts. Sad to hear that he has passed. RIP.

Dembele v Smythe
at 13:22 27 Nov 2025

I think Dembele is a bit nimbler which goes well at the start when games are tighter. Smyth's slightly more rugged style is better when the game is a bit more stretched. They both have their plus points though. Horses for courses and that ....

When did the penny drop?
at 14:11 24 Nov 2025

When I was a little boy I thought there was a limit to how long your voice lasted for and that when I was older I would lose my voice and become dumb.

Also, I thought that when countries went to war soldiers fought each other 24/7 and never slept.

Extended highlights QPR 3 Hull 2
at 23:34 23 Nov 2025

Agree with the above. Good game. Both teams going for it and attacking well.

Quite impressed with how we stretched them laterally looking at those highlights. Real good width on both sides, sometimes at the same time. Good tactics.

Rayan Kolli
at 17:12 23 Nov 2025

He played well when he came on and was ideal in the conditions and the game going from end to end. Hopefully, the penny will drop with JS that, as Marti demonstrated last year, two or three of the Devt Squad justify game time in the 1st team.

Hull Reflection
at 19:18 22 Nov 2025

Agree it was a strange game. Hull will be kicking themselves not to take something from the game after twice being up. They had us on the edge of our pants every time they attacked but they didn't close it out at all. I thought everyone did quite well, and yes Chair was buzzing around and linking things together well. Kone mis-placed a lot of passes. I think he was a little unlucky. But on a zippy pitch like that and when we are trying to spring some quick moves in the final third, Kolli has to be the better option. Surprised no Vale anywhere in the match day squad but I suppose not all 7 of our play-makers can play when 5 are in the team or on the bench. Glad to see JD back at CB and AM at RB. That's a much better combination given their relative strengths.

Champ table

The table reeks of mediocrity. It is the M & S clad table, sat on the sofa with 2 kids and a labrador dog watching Strictly Come Dancing while tucking into Nando's peri-peri chicken.

Under 21 game now v Burnley…live on Burnley TV
at 21:03 20 Nov 2025

Finished 3-1 to us. Archie O'Brien with the third. Good game, enjoyed it. They appear to do quite a few things which I'd like to see the 1st team doing on a more regular basis - switching to 3 at the back with ease, trying short corners, pressing the opposition at their goal kicks with 4, 5 or 6 players involved in the press. In Furs we trust.

Scotland are far too wedded to their formation. Denmark are playing them off the park with ten men.

100% ? That would mean you are walking through water !

If it's the BBC you were listening to I'd take that with a pinch of salt

Expectations for the rest of the season
at 22:19 13 Nov 2025

I think we would be miles away from any sort of 5 or 3 at the back. Maybe in the future when we get some of the Devt Squad defenders coming through (Adamson, Akendilini, Smith, Agbude) but the thought of Jimmy Dunne and Steve Cook being two of a back three would send shivers down my back.

I'm pretty sure the club have thought 'Yeah, Marti's 4-2-3-1 can work, so we will recruit accordingly'.

I think we do have the players for 4-2-3-1 if we play the right players in the right positions, e.g. a proper right back, Kone or Burrell at no. 9, Vale in the middle of the 3 etc etc

So, no, I don't think we have recruited badly. Just need to play the right players in the right positions.

Those highlights scream out that we should have got Smyth (and Saito) on.

Really ?

It does national events well, but it dumbs a hell of a lot down and reinforces stereotypes, which is not good.

Expectations for the rest of the season
at 21:49 9 Nov 2025

I'm not expecting a turnaround any time soon. Club has made a total mess since suspicions started to be aroused around Marti and while the team worked a good run in October I think the leadership is quite poor and there are quite a few under-currents in the club. If I'm being honest I think we will be in the bottom six this season. Sorry.

Saito slide
at 19:04 9 Nov 2025

I think he's been doing OK. Definitely a case of form is temporary, talent is permanent, as stated above. Throw in a bit of opposition teams learning how to play him and we probably have to get used to a slightly different Saito.

Don't see any evidence of that myself.

Excludes the youngsters, because they are easier to exclude. Plays the big money players that Nourry wants him to play.

Marti much more forthright in his decision making - even if it was the noose around his neck.

Had to be Saito for Dembele. And Smyth probably a better option than Frey. But JS is rapidly regressing towards neolithic football.
