Perhaps no decent loan offers came in for Morgan. We have cover for central midfield if necessary: we have a stronger squad nowadays and we can’t justify stacking and racking players just in case.
Most of us would’ve been happy with him in the squad but I can’t remember a clamour of people wanting him to play every week. Stéphan rates Varane and Hayden ahead of him plus we have Morgan and Edwards as cover. Field has clearly stated he wants to play as much as possible which we cannot offer so it seems respectful to a decent servant of the club to give him that opportunity at a team who are not our rivals this season. Would expect Norwich are paying his wages in full and hopefully we’ve got a loan fee as well. The deal makes sense to me.
Field is used to playing most games so I’m sure he wants to leave as he’s behind Madsen, Hayden and Varane at the moment. Would look to sell for a decent sum now considering he’s under contract but a loan with an obligation to buy would be ok. Just a loan serves no benefit apart from saving on wages but if he’s not going to play hardly any minutes then that’s better than nothing though it could strengthen a possible playoff rival.
Of course he has to take a large part of the blame for their goal: he was with the guy in the centre but when he peeled off to the far post he didn’t move and left him unmarked to score. He played well yesterday but not at that moment.
I’ll take all that with the largest pinch of salt as I think you aren’t a very good judge of a player generally, as shown by your blind obsession with Lyndon Dykes and obstinate defence of him even when he was at his very worst (and I liked Dykes).
Not sure why it’s worth getting upset that Bennie came on instead of Kolli and did alright and we won. And it seems like you are making Bennie a bit of a scapegoat when none were needed after we beat the league leaders and all the players did well.
This argument only works if we assume RND will have permanent injury problems for the rest of his career which is clearly a stretch. If we binned off all our players who had previous injury issues we’d be left with about half a dozen. As well as JCS we’d be showing the likes of Chair, Poku and Kolli the door (all of which have been injured for extended periods). He has also made 24 appearances so far this season which is the 8th highest in the whole squad so there’s hardly a major problem there. He’s been consistently decent at both ends of the field with a good disciplinary record as well. Can’t see us getting a better player without paying big money and even then it’s a gamble: RND has shown us what he can do and it would be great to keep him.
We won yesterday with Bennie as the early sub not Kolli so Stéphan made the correct decision: it was hardly ‘criminal’ that Kolli (our only striker on the bench and therefore needed to replace Kone if needed) didn’t come on to replace our injured right winger.
Again that’s too harsh on Bennie. The lad grew into the game and contributed all the time he was on the pitch: whilst others were tiring he still had the energy to keep going to the final whistle. Yes he lost his man for their goal which is a learning experience for a young player with so few first team minutes. His chance he scuffed was a difficult one but it was great to see him in such a dangerous position in their box which he did a number of times throughout the game including when we scored the winner. Showed why Stéphan clearly rates him and why he deserves to be in the squad. Overall very promising and certainly not a disappointment.
Whilst I agree with most of your post and also think Cook has been a superb signing I take exception to this paragraph:
“What we also need to add in to the pot that this club he is serving so well is the same one that has taken the captaincy from him AND done his best to publicly humiliate him with one of the most mealy-mouthed contract renewal statements I have ever seen”
Nobody is guaranteed to be captain for life and there could’ve been multiple reasons why Dunne was preferred for this season rather than your perceived slight on Cook. Also Cook had been captain on and off at his previous clubs so he’ll now how it works better than us. And the contract extension statement was short and to the point which may have raised a few eyebrows but hardly an attempt to ‘publicly humiliate’ Cook who I’m sure was happy to stay on at QPR for this season when he may have had other options elsewhere.
Hmm a 0-4 away win at Dirty Leeds somewhat undermines your post. Also Arteta has realised to win the league you have to master the defence and stop the other team from scoring: he’s doing a decent job as they try to avoid finishing second yet again. I hope they succeed.
A really enjoyable game at LR: our home form has been streets ahead of the last few seasons with plenty of goals to enjoy. Can’t fault any of the players today: didn’t look like Bennie for Dembele was going to be the right early sub but he really grew into the game with plenty of effort and energy. Really pleased for him. Kone’s best game for us IMO: led the line really well, put himself about, won headers and held it up for the whole game and a lovely goal. Madsen was superb as he usually is at home: need him to replicate that on the road more often. The four defenders were solid throughout: if we can get RND back on a free then sign him up as he is consistently decent. And great to see Stéphan keeping three up for their corners.
If he wanted to be playing football then he would have had numerous opportunities to do so over the last few years by going out on loan or agreeing a termination deal with Chelsea. Money is clearly more important to him which is understandable given the eye watering sum Chelsea are wasting on him every day: fair play to him but he certainly doesn’t deserve any sympathy.
And to add to it: we recently extended Frey’s contract so if Grashopper wanted him they would have to pay us a transfer fee. Why would QPR have to pay up his contract if another team were signing him and paying him a wage?
It’s proper spin to try to suggest that the £500k transfer fee reported by a reliable source is actually just Frey’s QPR wages he’ll no longer be getting.
