Struggling to remember a worse performance where we didn’t lose. There’s probably a flukey 1-0 win I’ve forgotten where we played as badly that I’ve blocked out of my memory. The famous Paul Hart 2-1 win (Bristol City also?) but from memory that wasn’t as tragic as the first hour in particular here.
Another very decent performance yesterday. They didn’t get much joy down their left and as ever he won the first contact on the rare balls we got into their box. Just a proper bloke to have in the team when you’re under the cosh.
I thought that at the time. Ball nowhere near the corner and maybe he wouldn’t have got there but I didn’t think it was one of those you just have to stare at and hope. Made up for it after.
They could have left nine up and defended our corners today. You’ve got Dunne, Cook, Field and Morrison trundling up the pitch and twice just chip it at the nearest defender.
I’d argue Stoke have more chance of being dragged into it as the season goes on than Luton. Surprised Edwards has clung on but they’ve got good players and they’ll win home games at least. Stoke will just do what Stoke always do.
As ridiculous as an element of their support is in 2024 I like them more than most. Punch above their weight, no pun intended, ‘proper’ club where you still feel like you’re going to a football match rather than a concert as you near the ground.
Very odd. They were playing decent football, winning regularly and defensively very sound five minutes ago. Missing Tanganga (arguably the division’s POTY), Cooper and Esse (meant to be different class and the Olise replacement at Palace).
