World Cup Draw
at 20:00 4 Dec 2025

The excitement of the playoff draws hosted by generic Eurobird and generic Euroblokeinsuit with a random array of ex-footballers who seemed to all be being paid per minute will take some beating.

Bucket List / Fck It List

Stupid and very achievable thing I should have done in the summer and just never got round to was doing 100,000 steps in a day. On the list for a nice Sunday with plenty of daylight next year.

Completing the 92 (81 for now until someone else builds a new stadium).

Would love to follow England through a World Cup. Certainly won’t be next year at those prices and won’t be 2034 in Saudi because sod that so would have to be Spain/Portugal/Morocco. Still an effort but could be the last, perhaps ever, that it’s doable at a realistic price.

An away Ryder Cup.

On the flip side, doing a marathon/triathlon. Fair play to anyone who has but not for me.

Saturday's referee
at 17:01 4 Dec 2025

I know there’s a chronic shortage of referees considered league level but surely he should have been demoted by now. Every team at this level has had him countless times and no one seems to have a good word to say.

Elite sport should encourage players to give wkr hand gestures to the crowd and offer people out. People wouldn’t leave on 85 mins if it could be arranged for straight after the game.

New stadium for London
at 10:41 3 Dec 2025

If it was close by, which feels increasingly unlikely, I could live with it I guess. If we get a St Mary’s / Ricoh type stadium in Greenford then I’d rather just be where we are forever. Not like success suddenly becomes that much more likely.

If you catch Nardi on a bad day then Doncaster Belles’ U11s are going to cause problems at corners for us.

A VAR starter, a twisted VAR starter?

I think there are far too many penalties in general. A penalty is a huge ‘punishment’ relative to many of the ‘crimes’, particularly for those silly handballs on the corner of the box which clearly aren’t deliberate but also something like this which was a foul IMO but a penalty feels too much. Plus everyone loves indirect free kicks inside the box. They’re fun.

He must have seen enough of Frey by now to know he’s done. Perhaps he thinks/knows Kone and Kolli are going to AFCON. Nobody sane is picking Frey for his potential to get back into the game. We’d be better off chucking Dunne up there (or the £3m striker on the bench ideally).

Don’t forget the defence standing for the short goal kick, keeper feigning to pass one way, deciding not to, hesitating, have a little think, gesture to defence it’ll be a long goal kick, walk backwards, kick post, hoof to halfway line once defenders have jogged 50 yards.

Enjoyed Andy Hinchcliffe making himself sound very important with a long explanation of the new rule of giving a corner when the keeper holds onto the ball too long for the exactly zero people sad enough to be watching Birmingham v Watford and not be aware of a rule change talked about incessantly for months.

Lyle Taylor - Undr The Cosh

Looked really good for Wimbledon and Charlton then got swallowed up, well remunerated I’m sure, in that weird period where Forest bought half the population and players went backwards (Josh Bowler). At the age he was with a fairly unspectacular career behind I’m sure anyone would’ve made the move but he’s dropped fast since. Still going at Chelmsford.

20 team divisions
at 13:26 1 Dec 2025

A long time ago looking at the implications of this was a small part of my dissertation on helping lower league clubs improve finances. Can’t remember the details now but you’d be surprised how small the overall impact on mileage is and in theory you draw the line somewhere that splits up local rivals or close teams so they lose those shorter trips. Obviously that line moves but you risk the absurd sort of situation we see in non-league where Bedford and Oxford play in the North because the line has to go somewhere.

Then there’s the sheer chasm in quality and money between a top L1 side and a bottom of L2 side. Doesn’t do clubs much good if you lose competitiveness.

5 x 20 teams wouldn’t be the worst idea IMO. Some good sides in the NL getting bottlenecked while relative dross in L2 cling on. There should be three up and three down there either way.

Four minutes of second half injury time after what must have been quarter of an hour comfortably for players to get up off the floor for the game to continue.

I think I said earlier in the thread it absolutely does have an impact.

But I’m not having it for that slop. I don’t care if they were playing away on Mars yesterday. There were some disgusting performances today. Some of those players took their foot off the gas after a couple of decent results and phoned it in.

The club tweeted he didn’t travel so he could play on Saturday immediately after the line-up to avoid hysteria.

The Amex, while shiny and new-ish, is also pretty rank for transport. Fine getting there but good luck getting away.

2035 is a long way away though and presumably the likes of Selhurst would need some major upgrades to make the cut and/or are just on there to make up the numbers

Just as I’ve booked parking near it I was thinking The Murderers which looks an interesting old pub. Away-friendly from what I can see online.

It’s the sort of place you probably have to move away from for work or work reasonably far away. Being on Sky and apparently their recent upturn in form being more luck than anything (according to their fans’ views I’ve read) I can see the appeal of missing it. It’s not a big fan base there despite the 90s success.

Plus everyone is skint so the travel, parking, food or whatever means there’s always a cost to going even with the ticket paid for.
