Another thing from last night: because this was the only live football, a lot of fans of Premier league clubs watched the game, and the general consensus I saw on Twitter was not just what a great game it was for the neutrals (well, kind of neutral, there ain't a lot of love for Leeds out there!), but also the joy of watching the football flow, unencumbered by VAR. It further underlines all the other points about the vulgar money grubbing premier league. The sooner the 'top' clubs fck off and form their own league the better. The Championship still upholds (just about) the purity of the game we love. |

Err, and South African Ranger, John, don't miss him out, he carried us to glory when we really needed it. |
| Forum Reply | Is this, unexpectedly, a season to be savoured after all? at 07:11 27 Apr 2024
Thanks for giving this a bump mate, I was thinking about this last night! Yes, I am, and have been, savouring this season - more or less - I have wavered! But the best stories always have their reversals of fortune, the apparent disasters, the many twists and turns before the climax and its aftermath. I think what I said in my OP back in early February holds true - and I am mighty pleased that it does! If Marti stays - and I think he will - we will go into next season with a full pre-season of the Cifuentes method instilled in our players old and new. If Eze is sold, we may even have the dosh to (whisper it) buy a decent striker. A keeper to replace Begbie, who has been pretty solid all things considered, and a couple of other players, and then who knows, maybe what I said in my last paragraph really will be the case: "Of course the season could still end up with the massive downer of relegation. But I don't think it will. I think we will survive, and then in years to come, we may even look back at this season as a remarkable turning point in the strange, chequered yet beautiful history of Queens Park Rangers." Watching the Leeds players during the warm-up, they were swanning about, big smiles on their mugs, like preening peacocks; they just knew they were going to beat us easily. They only had to turn up really. Job done. It was in this moment that I realised we were going to tonk the arrogant fckers good and proper. |

Big Up to SAR, brilliant match thread performance mate, 2 magical, crucial, wonderful wins in a row!!!! I think our match thread starters have been top notch recently, but this crowns it all... |

It's such a stupid bloody phrase, I like to think it's 'see it, say it, salted.' |

Just reread the OP, and I'm wondering how many people on here had been suffering from "premature articulation"? Hopefully you're all better now. |

Why will Birmingham "obviously beat Huddersfield"? There's nothing obvious in that result, or indeed, any other results. The only thing we do know is that it is almost impossible to predict what will happen, especially in the Championship. And for that reason, probability and logic are better bedfellows than scaremongering and panic. It is, using probability, highly unlikely that we will end up in the bottom three. Nevertheless, it is not impossible. But I think we can have cause for optimism, especially following Saturday's result. I fancy us to take a point off Leeds and beat Coventry on the final day. At least we don't have too long to wait now! [Post edited 22 Apr 12:23]

But I hope they DO play like this against Shinfield Tuesday. Edit. Er, I mean Blackburn! [Post edited 21 Apr 18:02]

Agreed, terrible performance. Facking hate Wednesday though. |

1. Cook: outstanding season-long performance, chipping in with vital goals. Commands the defence, the rock upon which our turnaround under Cifuentes has been built. 2. Dunne: a transformation and a revelation at right back; completely out of sorts and out of favour, stepped into the unfamiliar RB role and has been superb there ever since. Plus: (vital) goal of the season! 3. JCS: Cook's solidity has allowed him to show just how good he is, Cifuentes management has given him confidence and self-belief and the new fitness team has got him running like a Rolls Royce. Possibly the best CB in the division. Wonderful to see him at his imperious best in defence. |
