County striker Barry Conlon is in the news for the wrong reasons after he has been given a driving ban for drink driving and driving without insurance! The Hatters hitman has been banned from the road for three and a half years after he was caught driving in November while almost twice over the legal limit.

The 32-year-old was fined a total of £1,715 for his misdemeanours, as he pleaded guilty at Wigan magistrates court to the charges. Barry was pulled over after being caught speeding in Wigan on 6th November and a roadside breath test found that he was almost twice over the legal limit. Conlon was also charged with driving without a valid insurance policy as he thought that he had been covered to dive his Mercedes under a policy from a failed joint business venture.

Barry has been banned from driving for 42 months and was fined £1,295 after being caught drink driving although this has been reduced by a third to £865 because he pleaded guilty at the first opportunity. For driving without insurance he was fined £925 which was reduced to £685 because of his guilty plea. Conlon was also ordered to pay £150 costs and £15 victim surcharge.

The former Chesterfield player has made 11 appearances for the Hatters after joining the club in the summer although he has been restricted to substitute appearances in recent months after failing to make an impression on the pitch.
